I think a lot of folks are getting ready earlier because they are keeping it more simple, less stressful and less expensive!

And what a great idea! I have no stress this year.

I love seeing these, but I wish they were healthier. Unfortunately, healthy and delicious just don’t belong in the same sentence when it comes to Christmas treats. I think for this season, delicious will probably win out.
This is really hard for my husband. He had 4 stents put in recently and has had to completely change his diet, no cookies. He is being a good sport about it though. I will be making many cookie trays to give away for less temptation.
This is the last thing I need! But seriously – thank you for posting this. Those melted snowmen melt my heart. All the recipes look too good! Enjoy the holidays!
I saw them on your post, they look delicious! I have everything done for Christmas except cookies. I have 3 kinds so far. I am making one kind a day. There will be a lot of cookie trays this year!
Yes – you are the Cookie Queen, plus candy-making queen as well!

I have had fun this year because I had so much time to make everything. I even added chocolate covered Oreos because I was bored. Haha

Chocolate covered Oreos sound fun. I think I tried the white chocolate ones when they first came out.

I bought oreo and whoopie pie silicone molds from Amazon a while ago. My granddaughter spent the night so I let her do the Oreo’s.

That sounds fun and festive too as you probably decorated them for Christmas.

I have given away 4 large trays of cookies with 2 more to go. I am going to have so many left in the freezer still! I definitely am making less next year.

And then next year, more people will want them or show up! My father asked my mom to “make a plate” for him to take in for each of the bachelors where he worked. And one bachelor, an older guy, we kind of adopted for several years when he came to dinner every Tuesday night, 52 weeks a year. He only stopped when my father left. Then he used to call my mom every Friday from work – he didn’t have a phone at home and this was probably before cellphones.

I made 6 trays and I still have some left. That was so nice to have your dad’s co-worker over every week.

Bob was a nice older guy, maybe even older than my dad. After my dad left, Bob decided it wasn’t proper to still come to dinner, so he called her every Friday from work (he didn’t have a home phone). He wanted to know how we were doing.

What a shame he didn’t get to see his family one last time. Even stranger is that the family didn’t do anything about him not showing up. And one more strange thing is that nobody reported an odor, that’s usually how they find people.

My mom and I thought it was strange too, so my mom thought maybe it was to be a surprise visit, but you’d think they exchanged Christmas cards maybe? He didn’t have a phone, nor cell phone, so they couldn’t call him. After Bob retired, he called my mom every Friday afternoon from a restaurant phone. Just a 15-minute call, but he continued that call he formerly made from work. That IS how they knew – the odor. He was sleeping, had a heart attack in bed is what the condo manager said. She also told me that he turned the heat down really low (maybe to save money?) He was discovered in early April when it got warmer. I remember my mom and I decided to go to the condo. It was not far, the next city over. I knocked on the door, no response. My mom said “drive around the complex and see if they have a management office” so I did, parked and I went in as I was a woman through a window. I told her we were inquiring if Bob came back from Australia – we thought he was born/raised there and decided to just stay there. He had no family here. He had never married, had kids, etc. She told me the story and I was shocked. I came outside and got in the car and said to my mom “you’re never going to believe this.” We always had the local newspaper and there was nothing in it about the discovery of a body, even without naming him. My mom always read the paper cover to cover. Just terrible – what a way to end your life.

I love these yearly reposts, Diane, and I can’t believe it’s that time of the year already. It’s not part of the repost but I tried your peanut brittle recipe one year during the holidays and they turned out great!
I’ve seen most of your cookie recipes (and saved them in my “In Diane’s Kitchen” folder 😉). My favourite is still your Christmas Pretzel Hugs (it’s just so pretty). Happy baking Diane!!
I so appreciate that you do these!
You’re welcome Beth! I am only done with three kinds of cookies so far and baking more every day.
Thank you for reposting Ned!
Let the merriment begin!
I agree Dorothy! I have never gotten done so early as this year. All decorated, gifts are all wrapped and working on my 4th kind of cookies.

What a great selection of cookies Diane !
Thank you Susan!
I believe calories don’t count during our annual baking holiday season!
You are correct Mary! Lol

Thank you Betty!
All great ideas.
Thank you Barb!
I just made a batch of the no bake chocolate ones – they are everyone’s favorite here!

That is convenient for us Diane …. I know you are slaving away over the oven to make all of these treats.
You know me well Linda! Every day is baking until the cookies are done.

I will never forget my first time making it Ab. When it foamed and changed its color I thought it was ruined. Lol

Thank you! I didn’t make them this year but today I made white chocolate covered pretzels instead, my favorite.
Merry Christmas
Thank you Eunice, Merry Christmas.
Thanks
