Pizza Bread
Oh my gosh did this turn out wonderful! Anybody can make this simple Pizza Bread! I have been wanting to try this for some time now. I wanted to keep it simple yet elegant looking and it worked! I made this with onion, cheese and lots of pepperoni but you can make it any way you want by adding some mushrooms, sausage, peppers etc. It is like a pizza wrapped in the dough and topped with sweet dried basil.
Ingredients – Plus 1 Tbsp butter
Melt butter and add chopped onion
(and any other vegetables you want)
Cook vegetables until they are half way cooked.
Cook sausage if you decide to use it too.
Spray a large baking sheet with cooking spray.
Place pizza dough on it and pat it out to 11″ x 14″ size.
In the center of the dough, make three rows
of pepperoni, lengthwise, using all of the
pepperoni. Place chopped, cooked onion
(or any other vegetables and cooked meat),
evenly on top of the pepperoni.
Add about 1/4 cup sauce on top of the onions.
Sprinkle with cheese.
Using kitchen scissors, cut the sides of
the dough to within 1/2″ of the filling.
Fold the ends up then crisscross the cut
pieces from the left side then the right
side covering all of the filling.
******************
Make an egg wash by whisking the egg
and water together and then brushing
it all over the top of the dough in a
thin coat. Sprinkle with dried basil.
Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven
for 11-15 minutes. If it is not a golden
brown on top, switch the oven
to broil and watching carefully, finish
browning the top to a golden brown.
Let the Pizza Bread sit for 10 minutes then slice.
Dip into the leftover pizza sauce if you wish.

Ingredients
- 1 – 13.8 oz can refrigerated pizza dough
- 1 cup pizza cheese
- 6 oz pepperoni
- 15 oz can pizza sauce
- 1 medium onion, peeled and diced
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 Tbsp. dried basil, optional
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp. water
Optional: Cooked sausage or other vegetables.
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan and sauté the onions (and any other vegetables) until they are halfway cooked through.
- Spray a large baking sheet with cooking spray. Place the pizza dough on the pan and unroll it patting it to 11″ x 14″.
- Make three rows of pepperoni down the center horizontally. Place the onion (and any other vegetables or cooked sausage) evenly over the pepperoni. Add 1/4 cup of sauce on top of the onions, optional. Sprinkle evenly with the cheese.
- Using kitchen scissors cut strips in sides of the dough about 1″ wide. Cut up to 1/2″ from the filling on both sides of the pizza dough. Fold up both ends of dough and then crisscross the cut pieces enclosing the bread on top.
- With a fork whisk the egg and water together. Brush on top of the bread lightly but coating it all. Sprinkle with the dried basil.
- Bake for 11-15 minutes. If the top is not completely golden brown, turn the oven to broil and watching constantly, broil Pizza Bread until golden brown on top.
- When done, put the pan on a hot pad and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Cut Pizza Bread and serve with the extra pizza sauce (optional).

Rebel Guy loves to make his own pizza, this will be his next one once he sees this post!
It was amazing! I thought about creating this for a long time. Usually I have to tweak recipes and make them more than once to get them right but this one came out perfect the first time!
I told Rebel Guy to come and check it out with a little hint…hint…thrown in. Just so he knows I want him to make it. 🙂

What a nice recipe 🙂
Thanks!
This looks amazing! We’re going to try it out at our house. I like that it can be as simple as just cheese or that you can use upscale items for something fancier.
You can also make half one way and the other half another way. I like mushrooms but my husband doesn’t so we’re both happy.
treat to the eyes.
Awe thanks for the compliment!
Where in the recipe does it say when to use the pizza sauce . I see at the bottom to use the rest of sauce for dipping . when do you use it . hope I haven’t overlooked it
So sorry! I added it to the recipe on my website. I just spoon some over the onions to add more flavor. Then dip the bread into the sauce after it cooks if you wish.
Omgg it’s really amazing…looks absolutely DOPE 🔝

It is easy just open a can of pizza dough and have fun with it. You can’t mess it up.
Uh, oh. There goes my diet.
Lol it’s worth it!
This looks absolutely wonderful. The kids will love it. Definitely pinning this one.
Yes my Grandkids sure did!
How fun! Thanks!
It really was fun and a great way to impress family or guests. Thank you Katelon!
I’m going to try it for dinner, with a salad.
This looks amazing! I do have my own versions of this but what I truly love is your recipe card. I just could not get it to print.
How strange nobody has told me that before. Thanks for the heads up!
Printing this one out now! I love anything to do with pizza!
Add whatever are your favorite toppings. I like to sauté them before adding them to the dough as this cooks pretty fast. It is fun to make and delicious. Enjoy!
I just made it with onions, baby bell peppers, mushrooms and natural uncured pepperoni inside, with Asiago and Parmesan cheese. It is so yummy I ate almost 1/2 of it by myself 🙂
That sounds wonderful Katelon! I’m so glad you like it. 💕
I bought the crust in a 2 for $ 5 price so I have one crust left. Next one I’m going to try spinach, pesto, feta, sundried tomato, onion, bell pepper and maybe mushrooms, too.
Great price for a pizza and another delicious one!
The uncured pepperoni and the amount of it was the most yummy!
This is the perfect thing to make for football watching on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Looks so good. Can’t wait to make it!
That’s a great idea, thank you!
Looks delicious and I like how artistically you wove the dough.
Thank you it was a lot of fun to make.
You have great taste in dishes. The rose patterned one shown above was my mother’s favorite set. Unfortunately, because she added so much to it, I had to let it go when cleaning out her house. Anyway, the picture sure did bring back some memories. Plus the pizza bread looks delish!
Thank you and I love how food and dishes remind us of our loved ones.
Diane, it looks gorgeous and delicious.
Thank you so much!
Just emailed this to my daughter so she can help me/remind me that we should make this!
You’re going to laugh when you figure out how simple this is, it just looks fancy. Let me know how it turns out when you do make it.
I would never laugh at your cooking because your posts keep me laughing! Thanks for the share!
