How many times do you have to run to the store because you don’t have any Powdered Sugar in the house? I can’t tell you how many times I needed just a cup of Powdered Sugar and I had to open an entire 2# bag! Then I didn’t use the rest of it for a long time and it lost […]
Although this is not food for people, Suet Cakes are made in my kitchen and very important to the birds! This is the time of the year when the seeds and berries are starting to disappear making it hard for the birds to find food in my area. By making a big batch of Suet Cakes, I can cut and […]
Thank you to all of my WordPress friends! I have truly enjoyed reading all of your blogs and I enjoy our comments back and forth! I have learned so much from all of you and I hope to continue to inspire the chef inside of you! Keep cooking!
This Adult Cough Relief Recipe is an all natural drink made with honey, lemon juice, bourbon and water that really helps my cough! I drink it before I go to bed at night and it helps me sleep. Last Saturday I spent a few hours at the emergency room. They diagnosed me with acute bronchitis. I haven’t had bronchitis […]
These are not new Cast Iron Pans. They were rusty and disgusting to look at before I cleaned and seasoned them. If you type cast iron in my search box and scroll down a few posts you will see how I cleaned them. I am not an expert and everybody has their own way to Season Cast Iron Pans, but […]
Do you have a cast iron pan sitting in your cupboard you never use? Do you think all you can do is fry in your Cast Iron Pans? Think again! Check out some of my cast iron pans and the foods I have made using them. The picture above is a Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie. One batch of cookie dough […]
I pray that all of Florida stays safe through this horrible hurricane! Homes and things can be replaced, people can’t. I know many of you have friends and family living in Florida. My parents live right where the eye is supposed to come ashore. It is such a horrible feeling to be so helpless for the ones we love. After Texas having so much devastation it’s hard to believe it is happening again. To the ones that stayed please be safe. Call your loved ones before the power goes out and tell them you love them!
My husband and I live on 2-1/2 acres of land. Over the years we have transformed our property into my dream. My husband built me a 50′ long arbor that I trained pink and purple wisteria to totally encase the top. It was and still is a labor of love and a lot of maintaining. The pictures below are from […]
Don’t you hate that time of the year when the Fruit Flies invade your kitchen? Landing on your food is disgusting! It seems like they are everywhere and you can’t get rid of them! You won’t get rid of them completely unless you throw out your ripe produce or put the ripe produce in the refrigerator and who wants to […]
You are all amazing and I am so happy to be able to share all my recipes with you all! Cooking and sharing my recipes is my passion. I began this blog in the middle of February 2017. I have been able to blog every day and hope to continue to do so with new recipes or a gadget everyday. Thank You!
Do you have a garden? Produce and herbs are so expensive in the store so why not grow your own? In the picture above, the back row from left to right is sage, basil, thyme and Swiss chard. The front row is tarragon, parsley, blueberries and sugar snap peas all harvested from our garden. We have six different herbs (I […]
The other day my husband told me that my Honey turned into a large clump and I may want to get some new Honey from the store. I had to chuckle because I thought everybody knew HONEY NEVER GOES BAD. If you do get that clump inside your Honey jar, all you have to do is heat it up, stir […]
Who doesn’t love walking out to the garden and bringing in fresh lettuce, herbs, spinach and strawberries? It is a labor of love that my husband and I love to do. My husband and granddaughter picked our first crop of lettuce and herbs today. In the picture above the lettuce on the left is called Black Seeded Simpson Lettuce and the lettuce […]
Today I am not blogging about food. We live in the country and nobody ever gets to see our 50 foot long, 8 foot high and 6 foot wide arbor so I thought I would use my blog to share it with all of you. My husband built the arbor for me back in 1997 and I worked endlessly pruning and […]
I have eaten Rhubarb since I was a little girl. Our elderly gentleman neighbor had a patch of Rhubarb growing along the fence line next to our backyard. I used to reach through the fence and snatch a piece every year. I’m not sure I really enjoyed the tartness of the edible stalk but the elderly neighbor never used it and as a […]
Todays blog is one of pride and excitement. Meet my son and his wife, Mike and Ania! After 2 days of constant rain and flooding, they stayed upbeat and we all enjoyed an amazing wedding! We went to a Mexican Restaurant on Thursday, after the rehearsal, for dinner. Below is a few pictures of some of the food from that […]
I know, I know it’s not food! But my website is called In Diane’s Kitchen and I make this on the stove….in my kitchen. This is the only Play Dough recipe you will ever want to make! I have made this recipe for years. This recipe makes a huge ball of Play Dough, larger than a softball. The Play Dough in […]
What do you call them? For me they are called Green Onions, however, did you know that there is no difference in the two because they are the same thing! What you call them all comes down to where you are from. Did you also know that green onions are actually immature common full size onions. I find it funny […]
Two years ago my husband and I went to Alaska for our 25th wedding anniversary. One of the things we fell in love with while we were there was the reindeer sausage that was served to us with our breakfast. Although I did not make the salami in the picture’s above, I just had to share our story with you. When we got home […]
