  1. Oh yum – well this is something I definitely miss … my mom and I used to have these several times a month. The crisp and melt in your mouth cheese makes me drool looking at these.

    • Did you say you have a toaster oven? You could make this in that if you have one. Just like the corn bread, one half one day and one half the next! Lol I watched college kids in a video use an iron to toast bread. đŸ¤£

      • I do have a toaster oven Diane, but it has not been used for 15 years. It was not fancy, just a small Black & Decker toaster oven. My mom used it a lot the last few years of her life as it was easier than bending down to put stuff in/out of the oven. I’d be worried to use it after 15 years. I stopped using it because my mom used a heavy duty extension cord and she said the cord got awfully hot. She didn’t want to plug it in where I have the crockpot and not have to use an extension cord, but it was underneath a cupboard and we had the cupboards “faced with oak paneling/laminate” (not sure what you call it) and she worried it might damage it. Due to my lack of outlets, I’d be torn between a small microwave and a toaster oven. I don’t even use the toaster anymore – I have to move the crockpot and it’s too big to put anywhere. I could see using two irons to make a grilled cheese. đŸ™‚ We had a wide-slot toaster once that had an attachment to make a grilled cheese.

      • The college kids used one iron then turned it over to toast the other side. I have to admit, it is a pretty smart way to get the job done. What I don’t get is what kid uses or even owns an iron in today’s world. They wear torn jeans and have their pants down below their butt why would they use an iron? đŸ¤£ I don’t blame you for not using the toaster oven, if the cord gets hot that’s a red flag for sure!

      • I don’t get that either Diane – maybe though one of them worked at a job where they had to wear a shirt to work? It had been like that for a while and my mom said she monitored it and it was fine. I didn’t think so but I went looking for toaster ovens after she passed away – none of them have long cords and they are not cords you could replace with a longer cord.

    • Right! I decided to make these because my husband kept buying himself frozen ones for nights when I didn’t want supper. I hate frozen meals and they cost twice as much, I’m frugal. lol
