French Bread Pizza

With the price of pizza sky rocking, why not make this simple French Bread Pizza? The best part is that each person, even the kids, can make their own pizza exactly how they like it.

Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread cut in half lengthwise
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick), softened
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder, or to taste
- 1-2 cups pizza sauce, or to taste
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, or to taste
- toppings of your choice (cooked meats, veggies etc)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Spread the butter over both cut sides of the bread then sprinkle with garlic powder.
- Cover a baking sheet with foil and place the bread on the foil, cut side up. Bake for approximately 5 minutes or until the top is lightly toasted.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and add pizza sauce to the top of the bread. Don’t put too much sauce on or it will be soggy and don’t let the sauce get too close to the edges.
- Add cheese and then your favorite toppings.
- Bake for 8-14 minutes or until hot and the cheese is melted, serve immediately.

I also remember as a kid making pizza on English muffins. Not the greatest crust but as a kid it was real neat!

What a great idea Diane! Mine will probably end up with LOTS of cheese 😉 … I think we will skip the “buy a pizza once a month” and try this “make a pizza once a week”!!

This is one thing my mom never made when I was growing up. My husband actually introduced this to me in the form of a frozen store bought meal. Lol

We used to have the Stouffers French Bread Pizza – it’s been years as I don’t use the oven. This looks delicious – pizza is the only thing I really crave.

Terry buys Stouffers for when I am not home or not cooking. He actually had it tonight! I wanted steak and he doesn’t like steak.

We used to have it but it doesn’t fit in the toaster oven. 🙂 And I never made that crockpot pizza …. 🙂
