Slow Cooker Beef & Broccoli With Rice
Made with sirloin steak, broccoli, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts and a delicious sauce cooked in the slow cooker for an easy meal that can be served with rice.
Ingredients – You could also
add onions and mushrooms!
In a slow cooker add the beef broth,
soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil
and garlic then stir until the
brown sugar is dissolved.
Place prepared steak into the sauce.
Try to keep the steak in a single layer.
Cook on low for 4 – 6 hours. I found
4 hours to be plenty of time for me.
In a small bowl add 4 Tbsp. of the
sauce from the slow cooker. Add
the cornstarch and using a fork,
whisk to combine.
Push the steak pieces to one end of the
slow cooker and pour the cornstarch
mixture into the broth. Whisk to combine.
Add the broccoli, cover and continue to
cook until the broccoli it to your liking,
about 1/2 hour.
Add the bamboo shoots and water chestnuts.
Stir and cook until hot, a few minutes.
Then serve with rice.

Yummy! π
Thank you Saania!
Sighh….. you’ve got my taste buds salivating .. again!
Looks yummy and that plate is beautiful!
Thank you Kristen!!!!
Video of chopped raw carrots being flushed down a toilet is an ad posted with your recipe. May not be as appetising as you require for your site. I know you don’t have a choice.
The ads are horrible and yes I have no control over them. Thatβs why you donβt see ads in my blog except at the top and bottom. I agree it is so unappealing.
Ok. Just so long as you’re aware.
Itβs funny because all I see is ads for Lowes and a realty company. They have cut what they pay me to almost nothing. I am assuming it is the virus. Good thing I do this because I love to, not for an income…lol
Yes for brocoli – and others ! π amitiΓ©s- merci π
So many goodies in this recipe. Thank you. β€οΈ
This looks much better than the recipe that I have used in the past. I like the idea of the bamboo shoots and water chestnuts. Very delectable presentation Diane.
Thank you I was very pleased with the taste. I would have liked to have added mushrooms too but I left them out because my husband isnβt crazy about them and I just made a mushroom recipe a few days ago.
I pinned it for later, but will add mushrooms to the notes as I think it would be great with them. Thanks for the tip.
Youβre very welcome!
Great idea!
Thank you Angelaπ
I love easy slow cooker recipes. I just learned of a cover that absorbs moisture. Have you experience with these? What can you make? Thanks for your post.
As I read this, I’m seeing a picture of three women obviously suffering from indigestion. (“The Common Signs of Colitis”) VERY inappropriate. You have my sympathy. The recipe looks fantastic, though. I’m saving it until I can be freer with the grocery shopping. π
Iβm confused, is that what is showing up in my advertising? Mine shows a realty place and hardware store. Anyhow, thank you for the nice comment about my recipe. It is very good and easy to make. I love cooking in the slow cooker. Stay healthy!!!
It was there, then something else was there a minute later. I think you may be right, that something is malfunctioning. :/

Looks mighty tasty Diane
Thank you Sheree. πΊπ·πΉ
Thank you Sheree!!!π·πΉπΊ
Sounds great. I can almost smell it. We often use our slow cooker. Having solar, cooking during the day saves on THEIR bill.
Thank you and howβs clever!
Now that sounds really good.
Thanks Mags! Stay safe and healthy!π
You too. Hugs
looks yummy!
Thank you Christy!
Nice
This looks so good!! My husband recently bought a ton of rice so I might have to make this to use it up. π
I doubled the rice and made chicken fried rice the next day. I just put 4 cups in the refrigerator and used 4 cups for this. Thank you Michelle!
love bamboo shoots!
thanks for reminding me to get ’em when i go for groceries
Me too!!!
Another slow cooker recipe – you’re trying to sway me Diane. π It sure looks tasty though.
I could live by the slow cooker. The only thing I donβt like cooked in it is pasta. Thanks!
You nailed it with the bamboo shoots and water chestnuts. π
I wanted to add mushrooms too but I was being nice to my hubby, he hates them. Thank you!
That is a beautiful plate/presentation.
Thank you my mother in law passed it on to me when she moved into a smaller place.
This dish turned out delicious looking for a slow cooker meal ππ» Excellent recipe Diane βοΈ
Thank you!
Now this looks yummy! And I love your plate!
More recipes should include water chestnuts. Thanks, as always, for sharing π
Just so you know , youβve become one of my favorite sources of coking ideas ! Thank you β€οΈ
Awwww thank you so much, you made my day Andrada! β€οΈ
Oh I want to make this – yum! Thanks!
Youβre welcome. You wonβt be sorry!!! I ended up using fresh broccoli but last time I made it with frozen.
Great recipe, Diane, it will come in handy as we enter the cooler months here in Australia. I generally use gravy beef or chuck steak for slow cooking dishes so it will be interesting to try this!!

I hope you enjoy it as much as we do Donna. Thank youπ
Still seeing words in German, which is weird but entertaining. Also, this looks super yummy. Chinese is one of my favorite food groups. π
Did you try to go my language selection box and try to change it to English?????
Well, it’s weird. It’s not everything, just a few words like comment and like and whatnot. Nothing that you’ve written. It’s not really an issue, just an interesting quirk.
So strange!
Well, strange does tend to follow me around.

Nice recipe, Diane we love beef and broccoli…Luckily I get fresh bamboo and water chestnuts and this has both π
I don’t think I have ever tasted fresh bamboo and water chestnuts. All we have is canned. Have a great weekend and thank you!
And you, Diane π
Oh my gosh, your plates are so pretty & the scoop of rice is so cute! Yum!
Thanks so much, I used a measuring cup.πΉπΈπ·
We order this dish frequently at restaurants, and I’ve always wondered how to make it! Now I don’t have to wonder. Thanks so much, Diane! I will catch up with you when I return from a trip. Have a great week ahead.
Very easy to make it this way Kellye. Have a fun and safe trip!
