Slow Cooker Chicken, Onion & Gravy

Chicken cooked in the slow cooker with onion and gravy and is tender and delicious. Serve with mashed potatoes, noodles or rice.

Place your chicken in the slow cooker. I used both thighs and breast in mine.

Add the sliced onion.

In a small bowl whisk together the soup, gravy, pepper, salt, paprika, and 1 3/4 cup of water.

Pour mixture over onions.

Cook on low for 3-4 hours or until the chicken is 165º. Remove the chicken from the slow cooker, cover to keep warm.

Pour the onions and gravy into a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat until the onions are tender, stirring frequently.

In a small bowl whisk together 6 Tbsp. of water with 2 Tbsp. cornstarch until no lumps remain. Slowly whisk into the gravy stirring constantly until thick then remove from the heat.

Place mashed potatoes, noodles or rice on a serving platter, top with chicken then pour gravy on top. Garnish with green onion and serve.

  1. This looks so delicious and thighs are my favourite part of the chicken.

I’ve been doing more slow cooking using our Dutch oven. Obsessed with it. So I’ll try this recipe with that and let you know how it goes!

    • I think the smell of anything in the slow cooker is the best part. We had BLT’s tonight and my husband said he loves having BLT’s because you can smell the bacon for two days. Lol
