Bacon Wrapped & Cream Cheese Filled Dates

Sweet and salty always makes for a delicious appetizer or snack, not to mention the bacon! These were as good hot out of the oven as they were cold right from the refrigerator as a snack. The flavor of the bacon went all the way through the dates. They are so good and perfect for your Super Bowl Party!

Slice the date on one side and remove the seed.

Fill each date with cream cheese, about a teaspoon.

Wrap one of the bacon halves around the date and secure with a wooden toothpick.

Cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

Place the dates on the parchment paper without touching each other. Bake in a preheated 400º oven for 15-25 minutes until the bacon is cooked and brown. Turn them over after 10 minutes.

Place the dates on a paper towel covered plate to soak up any fat.

Then serve!

“Devils on Horseback” – my daughter (chef) just made those for our party. Instead of cream cheese, she used mild blue cheese. They were delicious and gobbled up by our guests.

Oh how ironic! I would try blue cheese if I like it. Lol

I have made these, and one cannot stop with eating only one!

I figured that out! The only good thing is, you can eat two and it’s only one piece of bacon. Lol

OMG you are so right! My husband doesn’t like dates and I put them in the refrigerator and ate them cold in 2 days! Two here, a few hours later 2 more, well you get the picture. Lol

I use thick sliced bacon for breakfasts. Do you use thin or thick sliced bacon for this?
LikeLike
This was a regular cut I don’t think the thick would get done as mine overlapped. If you try it let me know will you? You have my curiosity up now. Lol

I don’t think the thick would work well either, but I thought I should ask which you use. I’ll go with the thin. I think even the wrapping would be problematic. Thanks, Diane.
