Oatmeal Cookies With Chocolate Chips

This is one cookie that has something healthy in it, oatmeal, and is it delicious! I also use the same recipe and put raisins in it instead of chocolate chips.

Mom often tossed chocolate chips in her oatmeal cookies; there were a couple raisin haters in the house!
I love raisins in oatmeal cookies. How can there be raisin haters, oh wait, my husband won’t eat them with raisins either!🤣
Yeah, there are some in every family.
I love raisins AND chocolate chips, and throw in a few nuts and I’m happy.
Healthy cookies!
Yes! I knew I would find one you may eat! 🤣
Merci
Thank you Ned!
One of my favorite cookies! Thanks for sharing your version. Oh, and I love your plate!
Thank you!
I admit to liking oatmeal cookies with raisins, but if you offered me a choice of cookies on a plate, I would take the one with chocolate EVERY TIME!🤪
I’m with you, I would grab the raisin ones first, too, and then a regular chocolate chip! 🤣
White chocolate is usually my way to go.
A man after my own heart! I have never tried them with white chocolate. Did you see the Macadamia nut with white chocolate, my favorite cookie!
Has to be!
My husband’s favourite!
I make everyone’s favorite cookie plus a few. Lol This is my daughter in laws favorite too.
Oatmeal and chocolate blends taste with health. Ya can’t beat that!
A great excuse to eat cookies🤣
Santa might enjoy these!
Definitely Ab! I bet T is getting excited. My husband doesn’t like oatmeal cookies. Last year I had a bunch of these in the freezer left over. I went out to get a few and they were almost all gone. I said I thought you don’t like oatmeal cookies and he said they have chocolate in them! 🤣
Thank you Yernasia!
Did you read my mind? I have some raisins and oatmeal sitting around and I was just thinking about making oatmeal cookies 🙂
Haha great minds thing alike! I would much rather have oatmeal and raisins! However, nobody else eats them but me. I think the oatmeal and chocolate chips taste just like chocolate chip cookies. I want oatmeal taste.
My mom used to mix the chocolate chips and raisins in the oatmeal – they were delicious. And very filling like yours.
You mean together? I never had both raisins and chocolate chips in one cookie.
Yes, in a big fat oatmeal cookie. The first law firm I worked at I used to run a bakesale to raise money for charity. It started for the Ethiopian Famine Crisis through the Red Cross. Anyway, my mom always made my contribution (naturally). So that was one of my favorite cookies and she always made them. They went like hotcake. Golden raisins and chocolate chips in the same cookie.
Oh wow, I have never used the golden raisins in them either! I want your mom’s recipe cards!!!!! She had so many great ideas.
I will look and see if I can find it for you Diane – I know it was always golden raisins for her cookies – they were wonderful.
Thank you!
Hi Diane – I typed up the recipe and was going to e-mail it to you, but my Comcast has an issue. I will put it here and then when Comcast is working, I’ll send it as a Word document or right in the Comcast e-mail, whichever you prefer. I will do a separate comment here, because your topic was Oatmeal Cookies.
Darn Comcast, I can’t believe how much trouble you have with it.
It is annoying sometimes Diane – the internet part is fine, the e-mail is not. I should switch to Gmail for everything, but I’ve had the Comcast for 22 years now since I first got internet at home.
Wouldn’t you think they would have it figured out by now? 🤣
OATMEAL RAISIN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
1 cup margarine
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs (extra-large)
2 cups flour
2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup chopped nuts
1 small bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 small bag milk chocolate chips
1 ½ cups raisins (Mom used golden raisins)
Cream together margarine and sugars.
Add eggs.
Stir in and mix well: flour, oats, salt, baking soda, almond flavor.
Add nuts, chips and raisins.
Refrigerate overnight.
Use soup spoon – roll into golf ball size.
Place on GREASED SHEET flattening slightly with glass dipped in sugar.
So many delicious flavors in one cookie! I really appreciate it Linda! Thank you 💕
You’re welcome Diane – sorry I forgot the baking part … minor details. 🙂 Hope you enjoy them! I saw they had margarine. I know my mom used butter for some cookies, margarine for others – butter for sure for the shortbread and Christmas cookies.
You know I will use butter! Lol
I thought that when I was typing it out. I know for sure those shortbread breakers and shortbread cookis at Christmas time had lots of buttery. They were so good, but I preferred the small shortbread cookies with a marashino cherry on top and fork pressed down to make a design. I’ll be salivating in a minute. 🙂
Diane – I typed up the recipe and put it here in comments, then after the computer was off went to put the recipe binder away and saw I forgot the baking info – it was at the top of the page … can you tell I don’t bake? Ha ha. It is 350 for 15 minutes. The cookies are pretty big, i.e. not dainty.
That’s OK and thank you Linda!
Diane – I just sent you the recipe on Comcast which is finally working again.
I got it Linda, thank you so much!
