Oatmeal Cookies With Chocolate Chips

This is one cookie that has something healthy in it, oatmeal, and is it delicious! I also use the same recipe and put raisins in it instead of chocolate chips.

  1. I admit to liking oatmeal cookies with raisins, but if you offered me a choice of cookies on a plate, I would take the one with chocolate EVERY TIME!🤪

    • Definitely Ab! I bet T is getting excited. My husband doesn’t like oatmeal cookies. Last year I had a bunch of these in the freezer left over. I went out to get a few and they were almost all gone. I said I thought you don’t like oatmeal cookies and he said they have chocolate in them! 🤣

    • Haha great minds thing alike! I would much rather have oatmeal and raisins! However, nobody else eats them but me. I think the oatmeal and chocolate chips taste just like chocolate chip cookies. I want oatmeal taste.

      • Yes, in a big fat oatmeal cookie. The first law firm I worked at I used to run a bakesale to raise money for charity. It started for the Ethiopian Famine Crisis through the Red Cross. Anyway, my mom always made my contribution (naturally). So that was one of my favorite cookies and she always made them. They went like hotcake. Golden raisins and chocolate chips in the same cookie.

      • Hi Diane – I typed up the recipe and was going to e-mail it to you, but my Comcast has an issue. I will put it here and then when Comcast is working, I’ll send it as a Word document or right in the Comcast e-mail, whichever you prefer. I will do a separate comment here, because your topic was Oatmeal Cookies.

      • It is annoying sometimes Diane – the internet part is fine, the e-mail is not. I should switch to Gmail for everything, but I’ve had the Comcast for 22 years now since I first got internet at home.

      • OATMEAL RAISIN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

        1 cup margarine
        1 cup white sugar
        1 cup brown sugar
        2 eggs (extra-large)

        2 cups flour
        2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
        1 teaspoon salt
        1 teaspoon baking soda
        1 teaspoon almond extract

        1 cup chopped nuts
1 small bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 small bag milk chocolate chips
1 ½ cups raisins (Mom used golden raisins)

        Cream together margarine and sugars.
        Add eggs.
Stir in and mix well: flour, oats, salt, baking soda, almond flavor.
        Add nuts, chips and raisins.

        Refrigerate overnight.
Use soup spoon – roll into golf ball size.
Place on GREASED SHEET flattening slightly with glass dipped in sugar.

      • You’re welcome Diane – sorry I forgot the baking part … minor details. 🙂 Hope you enjoy them! I saw they had margarine. I know my mom used butter for some cookies, margarine for others – butter for sure for the shortbread and Christmas cookies.

      • I thought that when I was typing it out. I know for sure those shortbread breakers and shortbread cookis at Christmas time had lots of buttery. They were so good, but I preferred the small shortbread cookies with a marashino cherry on top and fork pressed down to make a design. I’ll be salivating in a minute. 🙂

  2. Diane – I typed up the recipe and put it here in comments, then after the computer was off went to put the recipe binder away and saw I forgot the baking info – it was at the top of the page … can you tell I don’t bake? Ha ha. It is 350 for 15 minutes. The cookies are pretty big, i.e. not dainty.
