Spiced Pickled Grapes

Spiced Pickled Grapes are pickled with cinnamon, allspice and cloves for a wonderful fall flavor and they only take a few minutes to prepare.

Remove the grapes from the stem

and rinse them in cold water.

Using a sharp knife, cut a thin layer

off both ends off each grape.

In a small saucepan combine the vinegar, sugar, cinnamon,

cloves and allspice. Stir and bring to a boil over medium

high heat. Boil for one minute then remove from

the burner and let cool for 10-15 minutes.

Place the grapes in a 4 cup glass or plastic

container. Pour the liquid over the top.

Cover with plastic wrap or a lid and

refrigerate for 4-6 hours then serve.

  • 3 cups large seedless grapes
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (more or less according to your taste)
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • Pinch of cloves

Directions

  3. In a small saucepan add the white vinegar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, allspice and cloves.
  4. Bring to a boil over medium high heat and boil for 1 minute.
  5. Remove from the burner and set aside for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Place the grapes in a glass or plastic 4 cup container.
  7. Pour the liquid over the grapes, cover and refrigerate for 4-6 hours then serve.

  1. Interesting. Could you make this without any sugar at all? Or is it needed for the chemical reactions that make up the pickling? Grapes are so sweet already.

    • It is the sweet sour taste that makes them so good along with the spices. I think the vinegar would be too harsh without the sugar. Maybe you could try a sugar free product?
