Homemade Meatballs
I finally came up with a delicious Homemade Meatball recipe that my husband and I both absolutely loved! I made these with half ground beef and half Italian sausage. I used an ice cream scoop to form them so they are as big as they are good!

I especially liked the baking rather than frying aspect of the recipe. This looks like a good one.

I’m never happy with baked meatballs, but my guess is that the sausage in this recipe has enough fat to keep them from being dried out. Baking is a lot easier than standing over a hot stove to fry them, and it’s surely better for you. Still, the memory of the aroma and taste of my mother at the stove on Sundays, frying the meatballs in a tiny cast iron pan… not sure there’s anything better!

And the memories are even better than the smell! Yes they were not dry at all especially after going in the slow cooker smoothered in sauce to finish cooking them. Thanks for sharing a beautiful memory Angela!

I cooked it tonight with my own sauce recipe. I followed your instructions even though I am not a fan of Italian Sausage. It was very good! Thanks!

Awesome I am so glad you liked it! Try it with a different sausage next time. Do you like pork breakfast sausage?

I do like breakfast sausage… I just can’t imagine it in this mix. The flavor of the Italian Sausage did grow on me after eating it over several meals… With me by myself, 24 meatballs and sauce goes a long way. 🙂

Great I’m glad it worked for you. You should have froze them in individual serving size.

Oh my – I will be dreaming of these and I’d be content to have them on a big bun … as that commercial used to say “that’s a spicy meatball!”

Hahaha I forgot that commercial! Thanks Linda!

Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe Diane! Truly marvelous! I might try to make it without the tomato sauce because I am a no-sauce-kind of person 😛 Have a truly amazing Thursday!

Aw you are so welcome! Make sure they are cooked through when you take them out of the oven. If you are not going to cook them in the sauce in the slow cooker you may need a few extra minutes in the oven.

They look so good .The baked version makes it even more appealing 🙂

Thank You! I agree, I hate frying them in grease. I love that they finish cooking in the slow cooker because all that sauce keeps them so moist and delicious.
