Homemade Pierogies With Mashed Potatoes

Pierogies are one of our favorite things to eat. Many different ingredients can go inside a pierogi, but we prefer mashed potatoes with bacon and cheddar cheese in ours. To see my recipe for the dough, mashed potatoes and how to make them click the link below.

  1. Thanks for sharing. I lived in San Francisco briefly when my son was 9. He spent his allowance on pierogies every week but I never learned how to make them.

    • I don’t blame him, they are so delicious! I like to make a huge batch and freeze them, they freeze well. I hope you get a chance to make them. We love to fry them with onions until they start to get golden brown spots, then we eat them with a little butter.

      • Ha ha – it was difficult to tell whether they were up close or not. It depends on how hungry you are too. I am not into the whole “going on a long walk” as it’s been awhile and I forgot to take a snack both yesterday/today and came home starving, so it would be a one-bite Pierogie for me too.

  2. I love pierogies, in fact, I had some for dinner tonight. I have never made them though. I am off to check out your recipe and see if it is something I want to try.

      • I have lots of time, Diane. I would do the potatoes ahead of time. I think it would be something I could do with my granddaughter. She could put the potatoes on each piece.

    • My husband introduced me to them when we got married almost 35 years ago. My daughter in laws parents came here on a boat from Poland and you should see the different ones they make! Your husband has great taste but I knew that when I found your blog and met you!
