Homemade Pierogies With Mashed Potatoes

Pierogies are one of our favorite things to eat. Many different ingredients can go inside a pierogi, but we prefer mashed potatoes with bacon and cheddar cheese in ours. To see my recipe for the dough, mashed potatoes and how to make them click the link below.

An interesting variation on our Cornish pasties
I will google them, I have never heard that.
these sound soooooo good
They really are Beth, we add onion slices when we brown them and eat them as our meal.
Thanks for sharing. I lived in San Francisco briefly when my son was 9. He spent his allowance on pierogies every week but I never learned how to make them.
I don’t blame him, they are so delicious! I like to make a huge batch and freeze them, they freeze well. I hope you get a chance to make them. We love to fry them with onions until they start to get golden brown spots, then we eat them with a little butter.
Wonderful Diane! Brings back some memories for me.
You made my day! I bet you have made a zillion of these!
Delicious!
Thank you!
Sounds like a comfort food, Diane!
Definitely Linda!
They look good Diane – are they small, like just a few bites?
Thank you Linda and how many bites depends on who is eating them. I would take 2 small bites and Terry the whole thing at once. đŸ¤£
Ha ha – it was difficult to tell whether they were up close or not. It depends on how hungry you are too. I am not into the whole “going on a long walk” as it’s been awhile and I forgot to take a snack both yesterday/today and came home starving, so it would be a one-bite Pierogie for me too.
I love pierogies, in fact, I had some for dinner tonight. I have never made them though. I am off to check out your recipe and see if it is something I want to try.
They freeze so well Carla. They are very easy to make but are a little time consuming unless you have mashed potatoes made up a head of time.
I have lots of time, Diane. I would do the potatoes ahead of time. I think it would be something I could do with my granddaughter. She could put the potatoes on each piece.
My granddaughter loved making these. I have a little press/mold (can’t think of the actual name) and we had a blast that day.
These look wonderful. I could eat a dozen of them right now. Maybe more than a dozen.
They definitely disappear fast here. We make a meal out of them. Lol
One of my hubbies favourites to eat! He loves perogies too.
My husband introduced me to them when we got married almost 35 years ago. My daughter in laws parents came here on a boat from Poland and you should see the different ones they make! Your husband has great taste but I knew that when I found your blog and met you!
I can imagine how great the Polish perogies are too!
They are the same as these only they put a variety of things in theirs.
These look good!
Thank you Kymber!
A favorite ! đŸ¤©
They are so delicious and never last long in our house!
mmmmmmmmm – I love pierogies!
We do too! They are so much fun to make and they freeze well.
