  1. I’m not surprised your granddaughter asked for this dish Diane – it looks delicious! I don’t think I’ve seen kielbasa in our stores (maybe it’s there, but I’ve never looked for it). Can I use pork sausage or maybe bratwurst?

    • It is the one meal my 12 year old granddaughter asks for every other week that she comes here to clean for me. Of course she always has to eat too, fringe benefits!

  2. I haven’t had Kielbasa in quite a while. I need to add that back into the meals. My husband insists on cooking and refuses to plan ahead of time which is like scratching nails on a chalkboard to me. If I put it on the shopping list, however, he will buy it, so it all works out. LOL

    • We buy a big package of it and freeze it in meal sized portions, it freezes well. I have to tell you this Linda. My husband buys groceries as well, I also make the list up. This week I wanted a snack and I saw where Chex Mix were on sale. So I put it on the list noting they had 2 small bags of traditional for $5.00, that way I know he will get the ones I want. Well, he came home and said he didn’t see where they were on sale. He said they had so many kinds like cinnamon etc. I said I never heard of cinnamon Chex Mix, I just wanted the traditional. He said he looked and looked, they had so many kinds but no traditional, so he said he bought me this kind. He pulled out a box of Chex cereal! 🤣 Needless to say, I will not be having a snack this week. I told him it was God’s intervention!

    • This is so ironic that you mention cabbage Betsy! We just bought two huge heads of cabbage at a farm stand. My husband made himself cabbage rolls tonight, I don’t like them. Tomorrow I am making vegetable soup with the other head of cabbage. I know you wonder what crazy woman makes soup in the middle of summer. I actually love it cold, yes another thing you are probably wondering about! 🤣

  3. I’ve been sick the last few days and am slowly regaining my appetite. I’m definitely hungry now looking at this recipe!

    • You needed what I made today, a gigantic pot of homemade vegetable soup. I actually love to eat it cold so it is perfect for summer too. I’m glad you are feeling better!

  4. Oh, I have not had kielbasa in a while – my mom used to make it with fried potatoes when my father was around and put in au gratin potatoes or scalloped potatoes when it was just us. We had a butcher shop that was in an enclosed strip mall where we used to go to shop at a store named Crowley’s. So this butcher shop had a guy cooking kielbasa and saurkraut and put it on a bun – maybe $1.50 …. even if you were not a fan of this combo, the smell was enticing and filled the entire strip mall.

      • That was a lucrative deal then Diane – it smelled so good. I swore we went home smelling saurkraut on our clothing too. They had a deal like that at Home Depot for hot dog and pop … we used to go there before Lowes arrived.
