It’s Friday What’s For Dinner 07-28-23

Anyone that makes a homemade dinner is welcome to type the name of one recipe that you prepared in the comments, then we can all scroll through the comments for recipe ideas. This will be a weekly Friday post and only recipes on the Friday posts will be allowed.
If someone wants your recipe and asks, there will be no pressure to share it, it’s up to you. I will accept links, but only to the recipe and NO VIDEO. It may take me a day to approve it so I can make sure the link is legitimate and not spam.
NO SPAM OR VIDEOS WILL BE ALLOWED, ONLY RECIPES OR YOU WILL BE BLOCKED.
I find the hardest part of making dinner isn’t the process, but figuring out what to make. So go ahead and post ONE RECIPE ONLY EACH FRIDAY in the comments or feel free to just read what others have made. Either way, I hope we all get some great ideas to make our meal planning easier.
My “It’s Friday What’s For Dinner” in the picture above is a BLT Wrap where I used the lettuce in place of bread. To see my step by step directions with pictures and a printable recipe card click HERE.

Great idea, Diane
Thank you Sheree!
How about this for afters https://viewfromtheback.com/2022/10/01/the-musette-almond-maple-and-cardamon-drizzle-cake/
You can’t go wrong with cake Sheree!
Indeed not
Great idea making the “L” the wrapping. Here is what to do with any tomatoes you have left – https://newclassicrecipe.com/2023/07/26/baked-caprese-salad-jersey-tomatoes-are-the-best-their-delicious-flavor-beat-all-the-rest-go-tomatoes/
Thank you Bernadette!
A BLT wrap! This sounds like a great idea! It’ll be 97 degrees here today and this, with a glass of wine of course, looks like it would be perfect. Hey…clean off the screened porch, turn on the ceiling fan and eat it outside! By dinnertime, that is very doable!!!
I am bowing to you and kissing your royal Kitchen Goddess robe.
No screen on our cabana but regardless, too hot outside for me. It is the A/C for us today, have a great weekend JC!
No recipe yet, but going to try homemade lasagna for the first time tomorrow.
I think it is fun making lasagna, it’s a work of art. Lol
I’m jealous of your homegrown tomatoes, and that BLT sounds like a wonderful way to use them.
I think they are our favorite vegetable in the garden every year. I personally love our cherry tomatoes the best. I sit and eat them like candy! I love the BLT’s and toasted cheese with tomato sandwich.
Eat your bacon and still at light! Good idea Diane. (We’re having bad storms tonight, so I’m staying up a little while longer … I’m no Spring chicken to do this.)
Thank you Linda, it is delicious! The storms are just now hitting us at 2:45 am. My granddaughter is staying and we have been up talking and watching Netflix.
I was up to 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning as that storm was to be potentially hazardous and I am worried about that dead tree in the neighbor’s yard. When it appeared things died down, I went to bed … the storm was not bad here. You are younger than me … I could not “do” 3:30 a.m. on a regular basis! 🙂
I hope that tree just falls to the ground when it does fall Linda!
Thank you! I wish it could melt Diane – too bad that is not possible! I picture it coming across two properties and landing on my roof … yes, it is that big.
How scary, does it lean your way?
Not necessarily Diane, but there are a lot of branches on my side … it is two doors down, but a massive tree and seeing big branches flinging into the yard did not give me comfort.
I can’t believe they don’t cut it down!
I know – I agree with you Diane and after you asked me if it was leaning toward me, I checked it out the following morning. I don’t think so, but it so huge that it will fall and do major damage to my house if it falls.
Is it on their property or the city’s?
Unfortunately their property in the backyard and yesterday I turned down their block when coming home as from my backyard I saw all brown leaves on the tree in the front of their house and wanted to check it out … no other trees have brown leaves, so this is another huge tree, but it’s on the front yard, not city property. I think that one will fall on their house, not mine … the other tree in the backyard is big and tall enough to reach my house.
It’s so sad they can’t afford to cut it down. Is it maybe rental property? Then you could contact the owner. Whoever’s house it hit’s they are going to get sued! I would cut it down just for that reason since they don’t seem to care if somebody gets hurt by it.
No, it is not a rental property Diane. My neighbor next door (Marge’s son) talks to the guy sometimes and his parents owned the house and passed away – the guy is a policeman! Not in our City though and not in a city close to us. (That kind of surprised me as I thought police/fire first responders would need to live in the city where they worked.)
I did too and I would think being a policeman safety would come first, evidently not!
I know! I guess money is more important than safety. If that tree comes crashing into his house, I guess he’ll change his tune. It is so big, it will crash into my house … yesterday we had a tornado near Lansing, Michigan. The winds were 95 mph. We were NOT supposed to have severe weather, just the west side of the state, then Friday afternoon, the weather report changed. My angst level went up. So, like two weeks ago, also a Friday, I stayed up to ensure when the severe weather hit, I was alert. We had torrential rain several times in the afternoon/evening. I see photos of those big trees that get uprooted by high winds and soggy grounds.
We got it to Linda. Yesterday we had streets closed due to trees, hail, flooding, over 5,000 out of power (my daughter and kids came here to stay overnight), even a power line fell on a police officer in his car. It has been crazy weather the past two days. I’m glad you are safe Linda!
I hate this weather Diane. We got past that Friday nite weather and I was okay, but near Lansing, they had a E-1 tornado with 95 mph winds that took down all the power lines, including the emergency siren. That happened around 8:30 I think. Dos your daughter have power now in this heat? Thank goodness she and the kids could come to your house and not tough it out in the heat. We are getting some torrential rain from Monday afternoon thru Tuesday morning – already flood advisories about it … I will be so glad to see Fall arrive. This has been awful Summer weather.
Yes their power came back on at 11:00 pm. The grandkids were already here so they stayed and my daughter went home. I’m ready for fall too Linda!
Too hot, too stormy – our rain deluge has began. Bring on Fall!
