Crispy Air Fryer Potato Chips

What a simple way to make your own Crispy Air Fryer Potato Chips. It’s amazing how many chips one potato can make. It makes me wonder why they charge so much for a bag of potato chips. These were so delicious and healthier than store bought.

Ingredients
- 1 medium potato
- 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- salt to taste
- spray oil (for the basket)
Directions
- Peel and thinly slice a medium potato. I used a mandoline slicer but a knife will work too.
- Soak potato slices in cold water for 20-30 minutes, drain then pat them completely dry with paper towels.
- Place the potato slices in a bowl, toss with 1 Tbsp. of vegetable oil and salt to taste.
- Spray the basket with cooking oil and preheat your air fryer to 390º for 3 minutes then place the potato slices in the basket.
- Air fry for 5 minutes then toss. Air fry another 5 minutes and toss. Air fry for 3 minutes and toss then continue air frying until they get as crisp as you like. Depending on the air fryer and the size of the chips, time will vary so watch them carefully after 13 minutes.

I will have to try this. I wonder if it will be easy to make salt and vinegar chips as well…. Oooo and I love dill potato chips might have to try some dill weed as well.
Wow Christy, salt and vinegar are my favorite. I used to order a powdered salt and vinegar that I put on popcorn.
I’ll have to look into that. Thanks.😀
You’re welcome.
I am going to try this when I get home.
They are really good Daryl, enjoy.
Don’t mind if I do Diane
I don’t blame you they were delicious Sheree!
Sounds delicious! Another good reason to buy an air fryer!
Thank you they are delicious and you can make just one potato so you don’t sit and eat an entire bag. Lol
I don’t know why they charge so much either, LOL. I really need to get myself an air fryer and soon!
You sure do, I put just about everything in mine from bacon, sausage, steak, burgers and so much more.
Nice
I’ll try them
Enjoy and thank you!
And it’s self-limiting. You can only make so much at one time as opposed to hunkering down with a family sized bag. Quality over quantity!
Exactly and they fry in only 1 Tbsp. of oil instead of submerging them in oil. Thank you so much. 🥰
Thank you for reblogging this Ned. 💕
Thank you so much for sharing this. 💕
Potato chips are my weakness and another reason to buy an Air Fryer!
I can only imagine how fun it will be to spice these over time.
They sell powdered flavorings of every kind. I used to buy salt and vinegar fr my popcorn. Yes you need an air fryer. Lol
I’m a huge potato chip fanatic. It is my greatest weakness. 🙂 I do love the idea of making my own chips and seasoning them myself. The recent flavour I tried from Miss Vickie’s (do you get these in the US?) is Spicy Ketchup. I could get lost in the fun of experimentation!
Not that I know of, I have never heard of them but my husband loves grocery shopping (I do not) so he does all of ours.
Excellent!!
Thank you Jessica!
They do look light and airy!
I cut them super thin and they were so crispy and the taste was just like store bought chips only healthier. Thank you Linda!
You are a smart cookie Diane!
Awe thank you Linda!💕
Not to mention delicious!
Awe thank you!
I am Going to try this
Thanks (and going to use avocado oil)
Let me know how you like them. ❤️
heeheehee I got the giggles with “Air fry for 5 minutes then toss. Air fry another 5 minutes and toss. Air fry for 3 minutes and toss then continue air frying until they get as crisp as you like.”
There wouldn’t be any left if you keep “tossing” them (away) HeeHee
Haha I had to think about that for a minute! You crack me up! 💕
🙂
Being serious again. I never thought about soaking the sliced potatoes before placing them in the basket. I’ll have to try that one.
Soaking them helps remove some of the starch which helps them to brown better. I have made them without soaking and they are still good but tend to stick to each other more.
Thank you so much for reblogging my post! 💕
WOW! Bet you can’t eat just one! 😊
Right, I made these chips for my husband and ate almost half of them. 😂
🤣🤣 A girl after my own heart!
It looks so good and sounds so easy.
That are very good and healthier than bagged chips. Thank you❤️
Mmmmm, I can just image eating those with some fried eggs – dipping them in the yolk!
OMG I never thought about that, what a great idea Jo! Thank you 💕
😁😁😁
I’m going to have to try these Diane!
They could even be seasoned with herbs but we love them so much with just a little salt. Let me know how you like them Dorothy.
Bet these do so well in the air fryer, the chips looks so yummy!
Thank you Paul and yes they were delicious and so easy. 💕
Wow! Thank you!
You’re welcome Nancy!
So much better than store bought when you can make them fresh and crispy!
Right and only 1 Tbsp. of oil! Thank you 💕
Good thought on why the bags are so expensive! Another thing to try in my DIL fryer!
Right especially when one potato makes so many chips. 💕
Oh, when I see “air fryer” in your posts’ headline, I know I’m going to see a delicious recipe! And true … here it is … healthier than those bags you buy in the shops … winner!
Thank you and much cheaper too! 💕
Thank you for reblogging. 💕💕💕
Yummy!!
Thank you Saania! 💕
We just got an air fryer (finally), so we’re experimenting with all kinds of things. I’m looking forward to trying out these potato chips.
I very rarely have something that doesn’t turn out delicious, however, I just finished breaded mushrooms that I cooked in the air fryer and wasn’t that crazy about them. They tasted fine but didn’t get that golden brown I wanted and you know what they say, you eat with your eyes first. lol
Love this. It reminds me of the article I wrote about the potato! So cool!
Thank you so much! ❤️
