Easy Baked Chicken Drumsticks Recipe

When we see chicken on sale, we buy it. It looks like a beginner butcher cut these drumsticks, the skin was cut up and the knuckle had yellow skin. I don’t mind because I will remove the skin before eating it and it was a great price. I am marinating the drumsticks then baking them in the oven.

Rinse chicken drumsticks and using a paper towel, pat dry.

Place the drumsticks in a ziploc bag.

In a small bowl, combine the rest of the ingredients and whisk until combined.

Pour the marinade over the drumsticks, get as much of the air out of the bag as you can, zip it closed.

Once the bag is sealed, massage the drumsticks. Refrigerate and every few hours, massage again then turn the bag over to the other side.

Preheat the oven to 425º. Line a large baking sheet with foil then spray the foil with cooking oil.
Place the drumsticks on the foil and bake for 25 minutes. Turn them over and bake another 5-10 minutes or until the thickest part of the drumsticks is 165º then serve.

mmmmm – these look really good
That looks like you would need a lot for a meal
Lol I made 13 drumsticks but we couldn’t eat them all so I gave some to the grandkids. They devoured them before they left our house.
who can resist a chicken drumstick? I know I can’t…
Thank you I am right there with you. I fix a bunch of them and munch on them for a few days. They were gone a little quicker this time because the grandkids showed up. Lol
my mouth is watering already!
Little kids always want the drumsticks!
These look yum, Diane! I love chicken drumsticks and thighs. And in this current economy, drumsticks are an affordable and yummy option!
I was surprised about the yellow on the knuckles but I read that is cause by the chicken eating marigolds and other yellow food.
The yellow didn’t seem to jump out at me – as I buy my meat from the Asian grocer sometimes and you see all kind of things there 😂 – but very interesting to know about why the knuckles may be yellow. I do love to eat the cartilage off the drumstick. It grosses the hubby out.
Yep I’m with your hubby! 🤣
I would have wondered what that yellow was. 🙂
I have seen the yellow knuckle before. After reading about why the skin turns yellow, it said it is due to the diet. They get fed things like marigolds which can cause this. I thought that was really interesting.
That is interesting … I would have thought it was some type of fatty deposit, not knowing that they were fed marigolds.
That was my thought too so I googled it. I had never heard of the skin changing colors by what food they eat. I’m glad that doesn’t happen to us. Lol
That is strange Diane, but I just Googled because I read one time if you eat a lot of carrots, the beta carotene will turn your skin orange. So yes, it is called “carotenemia” … yes, no kidding. 🙂
Now that’s interesting!
I thought so too Diane and I Googled to make sure it wasn’t an old wives’ tail … so I guess it’s good eating too many tomatoes doesn’t turn you red as you’d always look like you were embarassed.
Hahaha now that would be something!
We like lemon pepper chicken wings. I may try this and add a little lemon pepper to the mix.
Lemon pepper is so good! We love it on chicken too.
Delicious!
Thank you Susan!
‘A ‘Beginner butcher’ 😂 – that’s so funny!! But with this easy recipe, even the ‘Beginner cook’ will be able to make the tastiest drumsticks!
I love cooking up a batch of legs and/or thighs. My husband loves white meat and I love dark meat. After cooking the legs I refrigerate them to munch on for lunches or share with the grandkids if they pop in. Lol
