Pizza Pot Pie Casserole

You don’t have a pizza pan to make a pizza? No problem when you have pizza you can eat with a fork! I added sausage, onion, mushrooms, peppers, garlic, pepperoni and pizza sauce to our Pizza Pot Pie Casserole. I made a Bisquick baking mix topping for ours but you can use your favorite pot pie topping too, any will work.

In a large skillet over medium heat add the sausage, peppers and onion.

Once no pink remains in the sausage, stir in the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Turn off the burner and stir in the pizza sauce.

Pour the sausage mixture evenly into an ungreased 3 quart casserole dish. Top with pepperoni or whatever other items you may like.

This is the topping I made for ours. In a large bowl add the Bisquick baking mix, egg, milk and cheese.

Using a fork combine into a dough. Knead about 10 times on a counter that has been lightly sprinkled with a little flour.

Roll the dough out to the shape of your casserole dish. It makes a lot of dough so you may want to cut the shape out of the center and discard the rest.

Place the dough on the top of the pizza mixture. You can see all the excess dough where I rolled it at the edges. It turned out fine but just too much topping for us. Next time I make this I will cut that extra edge off.

Bake in a preheated 400º oven, uncovered, for 30 minutes.

Then serve!

Nicely spicy
Thank you Derrick
Sometimes I top pasta with a pizza sauce and mozzarella and call it “pizza pasta”.
Me too! https://indianeskitchen.com/2020/05/02/rotini-pizza-casserole/
This looks interesting, Diane. There’s no cheese in it except the topping?
You can put whatever you want in it, I was trying to save on calories.
Pfft, calories? 🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha I’m trying, 10# so far!
Congratulations, Diane. It is so hard.
That is a very creative way to enjoy pizza Diane! And reduces potential messes too!
Yes I didn’t drop a thing on me for a change! Lol
wow, new to me and what a great idea
Thank you Beth, I could have called it upside down pizza too. Lol
What a clever recipe, Dianne. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Bernadette and you’re welcome!
Sounds fast, easy, and delicious.
I thought it was very good. Thank you Linda!
That looks wonderful Diane – you know how I have a craving for pizza … less messy too. Of course I’d eat it cold, like a slice of pizza.
Thank you Linda! This was probably one of the rare times I didn’t eat the leftovers, I gave them to Terry.
Ha ha – I am surprised you had leftovers Diane!
Only because we are trying to shed a few pounds. Lol
And here I was admiring your willingness to have leftovers for such a delicious-looking meal! 🙂
A symphony of pizza flavors!
Yes it was very good Mary. Have a great day!
That’s a really cool idea to serve pizza – it may not look like a pizza, but I’m sure it tastes like one 😁.
It really did and it had enough of the sauce part to dip the bread topping in. Thank you!
