Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

Our grocery store had 3 quarts of strawberries for $5.00 this week and I couldn’t pass them up. I had rhubarb from our garden already in my freezer. It is cold outside and we have 8 inches of snow already and we are expecting more, so this is what I did with my snow day today, I made pie!

Delicious with some custard : ) amitiés
Oh my goodness that sounds amazing!!!
Thank you so much for sharing my recipe.
I can tell you with 100% certainty that I did not make this yummy pie 🥧 with the Florida berries I bought at #publix…
My parents moved back to Ohio a few years ago after living in Florida and I hear the same thing from them. They couldn’t wait to have rhubarb and especially tomatoes.
Thank you Ace!
One of my favorite pies, Diane! Thanks for sharing the recipe!!
You’re welcome Anita, makes me excited for spring!
Exactly!! 🙂
Perfect treat for a cold wintery day
Thank you
This is my oldest grandson’s favorite dessert, followed closely by lemon meringue pie! This looks lovely Diane.
You have a smart grandson Dorothy! Thank you!
This is an excellent recipe and I’ve made this three times already. 😊 Our rhubarb plant will harvest from our garden around May so that’ll be time for another round of pie. It’s a hit with the family! 😊🙏
Thank you Ab! I used my fresh frozen rhubarb this time.
Baking is a great winter activity. I can’t believe the price on the strawberries! Win-win!
They were cheaper than when they were in season but unfortunately, they tasted out of season too. With the added sugar they weren’t bad in the pie thank goodness.
My fork is poised….
Hahaha thank you! I have strict instructions to send a piece to my granddaughter.
Quite understandable
A perfect antidote to a cold winter day.
I really was and the grandkids love this pie which shocks me! Thank you Bernadette ❤️
Oh my that’s a lot of snow. The pie looks really good though. Good use of your time!
Thank you Alessandra💕
My grandma used to make rhubarb pie.
We always had just rhubarb pie when I was a kid. Then someone had the wonderful idea of adding strawberries. But I like them both so much I can’t decide which is my favorite. Did she ever make you rhubarb sauce?
Not to my recollection
It looks delicious … and must be healthy with the fruit (strawberry) and vegetable (rhubarb) in!
Yes and the rhubarb is from our garden. Thank you!
Thank you and enjoy your weekend!
One of my favourite pies! Thanks Diane
I always had just rhubarb as a child then I made it with strawberries just a few years ago, what a game changer!
Wonder if frozen berries would work?
I’m sure they would but the wetter the berry the wetter the pie. I prefer fresh rhubarb over frozen but the frozen works good enough to set up.
A great combo like strawberries and rhubarb makes a great pie. When you went to Shipshewana, did you bring home any of their strawberry-rhubarb preserves or do you make your own?
I usually buy my jams at Amish country because I am the only one that eats them. I use to make all my jelly and jam when the kids were home, it is so easy. The last one I made a couple years ago was jalapeño jam that was so good.
We came home with jams and also some red currant jam – my mom’s favorite pie which we had to scour the produce markets for red currants as they are out a short time. We found a market and they went out of business so no more red currant pie after that.
That’s one pie I have never tasted.
It is very tart.
Oh my goodness. This brings me back to my first job in a kitchen of a nursing home. The baker used to make strawberry rhubarb pie. It was SO delicious! I think that’s the only time I’ve ever had it. Thanks for bringing back this happy memory, Diane.
You are so welcome!
