Slow Cooker Ham & Potato Soup

This hearty Slow Cooker Ham & Potato Soup is full of potatoes, carrots, celery and onions and cooked in chicken broth with cream. What a wonderful flavor after cooking all day in the Slow Cooker!

Add the potatoes, carrots, onion, celery

and ham to a large slow cooker.

Add the salt and pepper then toss.

Add the chicken broth, I use Better

Than Bouillon for more flavor.

Slow cook on low for 8-9 hours or on

high for 4-5 hours. I stirred mine

halfway through cooking.

When the vegetables are all tender,

remove about half of the potatoes

and blend them, I used my immersion

blender, but you can use whatever

you have handy.

Stir in the blended potatoes.

Add the flour and the cream then

stir. Cover and cook another

15 minutes on high.

Then serve.

  1. We are expecting some weather here in the Carolinas this weekend. This would be perfect for dinner. Maybe a mug of hot Ovaltine later.

  2. Looks so good! I don’t use ham much as an ingredient but this convinced me to try it specifically for this soup!

  3. I love ham and potato soup, yet have never made it. This looks so easy. I have my crockpot with me and if I can find all the ingredients, I will give this a try. Although I don’t have my immersion blender with me.

    • Do you have a mixer? Just try and mash them any way you can. It will still taste great but the consistency is so much better if blended. I even used my immersion blender in the crock pot after I did the potatoes because I still wanted it not so chunky. My husband wanted no potato chunks but I had to have some.

  5. We’re starting a major remodel on Monday. Our kitchen will be gutted as part of that project, so I am setting up a kitchen for us in one of our empty bedrooms. I have my crock-pot there, of course, and I WILL be making this soup. Love your recipes, Diane!

    • How exciting Patty! I have never remolded inside the house but I am saving up for the kitchen. I hope you like the soup as much as I did. Thank you for your kind words. ❀️

      • I don’t like having to deal with workers in the house, I hate the mess! But I can’t wait to have my kitchen done. Post pictures when they are done I need some inspiration. Lol Enjoy the soup and let me know how you like it.

  6. Of course that all looks delicious, but I’m most taken by the bowl you’ve presented it in. You so have to do a clam chowder in that bowl. It would be perfect! πŸ˜›
