I am so excited because the holiday baking is just about here! This is a great dessert to serve for Thanksgiving. I love this Pumpkin Roll not just because of how delicious it tastes, but also because I can make it a week ahead of time, freeze it and thaw it in the refrigerator the day before I need it. Just before serving I slice it and sprinkle it with powdered sugar. Your family will be amazed that you made this one!

  1. It looks great, Diane. Iโ€™ve always been curious about how people make these rolls. Now I know! Enjoy it. And I look forward to your Thanksgiving posts later this fall. Can only imagine the feast youโ€™ll whip up!

    • We were invited to my sons house!!! I hinted last year that it was getting to be too much trying to do everything and take care of 2 grandkids. I guess it worked!!! I look forward to making just one or two things this year. Time for the grown up children to start doing it some of the time. Lol

  2. I really want to try making it this year. I love eating this treat when someone else makes it, so I guess it is my turn. I pinned it last year when you posted it.

    • The only thing you need is help flipping the cake from the towel. Otherwise it is so easy and fun to make. The first time I made it I didnโ€™t wrap it tight enough and the cake separated from the cream cheese filling. I never did that again..lol The thing is, even if it doesnโ€™t look perfect, it will taste great. Every one you make will get better and better looking. And of course you must cut the ends off even so it looks great. That is my taste test….the ends!๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

    • Itโ€™s great because all of the outside work is done and everyone looks forward to their favorite dessert. One year I decided to leave one dessert out and you would have thought the world came to an end! Lol

  3. Oh, this is another flash from the past as my mom used to make these Pumpkin Rolls all the time Diane. They are so good and when it was just the two of us, she’s slice it, separate it with parchment paper or wax paper then freeze it and just defrost a piece at a time. Then we discovered Kroger’s carried pumpkin rolls in their refrigerated cakes and we started getting it there in later years.

      • Oh I agree with you Diane. In the last five or so years of my Mom’s life, she insisted on still doing all the cooking, baking, so I would see comparable items and if they “measured up” with her cooking/baking, I’d convince her to get them rather than spending so much time in the kitchen. It was difficult for her standing with orthopedic issues and also cellulitis in her legs (it caused her legs to burn sometimes). So, that was one of my discoveries. Yes, try that Diane and then you only need to defrost how many slices you want at a time. With only two of us in the house, we went that route – otherwise we’d be eating it until it was gone.

    • This is one of my favorite desserts! I have made a lot of these. I also make a chocolate cake rolled with a cream filling that tastes amazing. Thank you for your nice comment!
