Baked Beans
Baked Beans have been a staple at our family functions since I was a kid! My Grandmother wasn’t a great cook so she brought these to every function we had. She did have these cooked perfectly every time. I always wanted to eat the bacon laying on the top and today I still do! I no longer place the uncooked bacon on top of the Baked Beans though. Now I cook the bacon, break it into small pieces and mix it in with the beans before I bake it. Anybody else like to eat the leftover Baked Beans cold the next day?
Ingredients
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In a medium bowl, mix all of the ingredients.
Pour into an 8” square baking dish.
Bake for 45 minutes.
Serve hot or cold.

Shall I try diced carrot instead of bacon ?

That sounds good! You may want to cook the carrot a bit before adding it unless you like the carrot crunchy. Bacon is just an added ingredient that is optional. This dish will still taste great without it.

We actually made them from scratch – we had a bean hole, and everything. Later did it on a slow cooker.

I tried making baked beans from scratch one day. Hours of baking, and after wards they were just awful.

You have to try it this way. They are already cooked from the can so they don’t bake long at all.

This is actually how I make mine! Most people just think you get ’em out of the can, warm ’em and they’re done, but they would be wrong!

They are runny and are tasteless from the can. It should be illegal! 😂🤣😂🤣

Diane, I have a real weakness for baked beans, and your photos nearly had me salivating. This seems like the pinnacle of Baked Bean Goodness.

Thank you so much! My family has made them like this for as long as I remember. All I changed was I put cooked bacon in with the beans instead of on top.
