San Antonio Texas Part One

We are at our last stop on our trip out west, marking off another place on my bucket list. We were lucky enough to get a hotel right on the river and this was what we saw.

Our balcony that looked down at the river.

Looking across the river from our balcony.

Dining room where they gave us a free breakfast and free supper with 3 free drinks each.

So romantic!

We loved all the night lights. I was glad we saw the Riverwalk at night and in the day.

We had this young man for our river cruise which we really enjoyed.

It was fun looking up at all the buildings from the cruise. Everything was so beautiful and clean.

This poor man took that huge delivery down the steps and never dropped a box. I think he’s done this before. Lol

There were streets and plenty of pedestrian bridges to walk back and forth across the river.

Next week will be the last of my pictures from our 13-day trip. I figured this was enough for you to have to look at with one post today. Lol

An enticing river trip – especially the night views
It was so beautiful and fun, thank you Derrick!
What a pretty city.
It really is but busy! A great end to a wonderful vacation.
Thank you Ned!
I’m glad you enjoyed San Antonio’s River magic – thanks for the memories!
I will never forget it Mary! You’re welcome!
We took a river walk cruise in the afternoon. We enjoyed it, but the lights make it really charming. They really decorate it up for the holidays. I’d like to see that sometime, too. Great pictures, Diane!
Oh yes do go when you can, what a perfect end to a great vacation. Thank you Betty!
Beautiful pictures!
Thank you so much Gina!
This brought back memories of a trip to San Antonio about 30 years ago. It has certainly changed but still looks like fun. So many people!
I was so excited to finally go there! It really wasn’t packed because of the walkway on both sides. Our hotel was right across the street from the cruise boats too and they had quite a few boats. Nighttime had more people than in daylight.
Such amazing buildings and architecture..Love the night vies as well and what an stunning view from the balcony!
Nighttime was so clean and beautiful Paul. Nothing but nice people and wonderful ambience.
This is my stomping ground, seeing it through someone else’s eyes is so cool. I don’t live in the city, but I’m not too far away either. It’s pretty cool knowing that our little piece of home is a vacation destination for others. I don’t make it into the city much anymore—it’s gotten a bit too crowded and busy for me—but I still love the music and food when I do venture that way.
How nice that you are so close! It has been on my bucket list for decades! It was the perfect place to end our vacation.
I am glad you were able to go! It has changed so much even in my short time here, but I still love it! I am more of a wide-open spaces type of person! lol
It’s funny because I never felt it was busy at the river walk, I don’t like crowds either. I don’t know if it is because I couldn’t stop looking at everything. We didn’t even have to wait in line at the two restaurants we went to, so maybe we hit it just right.
That’s great!! I am so glad to hear that! Maybe you missed the tourist season! I love to hear it!
What an amazing tour stop, Diane! You both had a lovely hotel stay with great views and accommodations and the local amenities and sites looked like so much fun! 💕
Thanks Ab, I took so many pictures here that I couldn’t put them in one post. Wednesday will have just as many then I am done. It’s been so much fun looking back at all the pictures again since we got home the first week of April.
Memories to last a lifetime! 💕
Diane – in that first photo was it a dinner cruise?
OMG! Yes it sure looks like it. I took that picture when we first walked out of the hotel and I was taking it all in and never noticed the dinner. Good eye! Lol
I was trying to figure out where the chef was cooking/heating stuff up as there was so little space at the back! Maybe it was just snacks and drinks….
It must have been a different boat company because our boat only had chairs.
I liked how you have pictures looking up and looking down Diane. My, those buildings look so high up! It does look clean, as you say and the river running through the heart of town (or appears to be – I unfortunately have never been there) makes it great for gatherings, nightlife, etc. I would like that river cruise – how fun. I like how everything is lit up. That was a great deal for your hotel to have the free meals and drinks, which might have otherwise have cost a fortune. I’ll look forward to the part two and am sorry to see the end of the trip pics.
Thank you for your kind words Linda! The cruise guy said the entire river going through the town is all natural except one small section where I think he said they needed to make it wider.
You’re welcome Diane! That is nice that it is mostly natural – I would have thought it was manmade. That was a beautiful attraction.
Thanks for the memories! We have been there a few times as we have family who live near San Antonio.
It’s a lovely place.
It sure was Nancy, I am so glad we were able to see it. The driving, not so much but my phone kept us from getting lost. I would recommend seeing it to anyone!
Diane, nice to be visiting here again, and it looks like you did a fair amount of visiting yourself. The Riverwalk is one of my bucket list destinations, and I really enjoyed all of these SA shots!
Thank you Bruce! This was on my bucket list too, for decades. The ambiance while being there was the unforgettable! We were so lucky it never rained during the entire 13 day trip out west.
I love that pink horse drawn carriage. It must have been so nice sitting on your balcony overlooking the river. Also how fun to be able to have your meal on a boat in the river. It kind of looked romantics despite there being a lot of people on there.
Thank you Misty! I didn’t even realize the people were eating until I posted the picture. 🤣 That was the first night getting there and I took that picture and the horses immediately, it was beautiful with all the lights. Our cruise was the next day in the daylight, more pictures of that next week.
I was recently in San Antonio meeting up with my sister who had a work conference there. We spent a couple days on the riverwalk. I wonder if we were there at the same time! We had delicious food!
We didn’t do the cruise but we saw lots of people taking them!
We were there March 28th and 29th then left on the 30th. That would have been awesome if I saw you there!
Oh I was there in Sept we definitely missed each other 🙂
Wowser! What a place! I had no idea. I knew they had a river walk but that was about the extent of it. Thanks for sharing! Karla/Clampetts
You’re very welcome Karla, this was the perfect place to end our vacation.
How lucky you were to have a hotel looking over the river. We were about half a block down, so close enough to spend a lot of time there, both night and day. I loved people watching. This was a bucket list place for me, but Ray and I never made it. I went with my friend.
That was nice you could go with a friend. My husband traveled here after he graduated from college. I told him we didn’t have to go and then added it’s always been on my bucket list, it worked. 🤣
I’m a history buff, so it was The Alamo that I wanted to see, and boy was I shocked at how small it was. The River Walk was the highlight for sure.
My husband is like you with history and I want to see nature. Besides, he went there the first time he was there right after college. The Riverwalk was more than I expected!
A hotel room with a view – that’s nice! Free breakfast, free supper, and free drinks … I like that 😁. A river cruise is always a nice thing to do to when you want to see a city from a different angle. Beautiful photos.
The food was pretty good for free. We happened to book the hotel because it was near our first stop, we had no idea they gave you all the food and drinks for free. Since we booked hotels as we went, my hubby booked the same kind every night. We lucked out getting that room on the river. We saved a lot of money! Thank you Corna!
