San Antonio Texas Part One

We are at our last stop on our trip out west, marking off another place on my bucket list. We were lucky enough to get a hotel right on the river and this was what we saw.

Our balcony that looked down at the river.

Looking across the river from our balcony.

Dining room where they gave us a free breakfast and free supper with 3 free drinks each.

So romantic!

We loved all the night lights. I was glad we saw the Riverwalk at night and in the day.

We had this young man for our river cruise which we really enjoyed.

It was fun looking up at all the buildings from the cruise. Everything was so beautiful and clean.

This poor man took that huge delivery down the steps and never dropped a box. I think he’s done this before. Lol

There were streets and plenty of pedestrian bridges to walk back and forth across the river.

Next week will be the last of my pictures from our 13-day trip. I figured this was enough for you to have to look at with one post today. Lol

  1. We took a river walk cruise in the afternoon. We enjoyed it, but the lights make it really charming. They really decorate it up for the holidays. I’d like to see that sometime, too. Great pictures, Diane!

    • I was so excited to finally go there! It really wasn’t packed because of the walkway on both sides. Our hotel was right across the street from the cruise boats too and they had quite a few boats. Nighttime had more people than in daylight.

  2. This is my stomping ground, seeing it through someone else’s eyes is so cool. I don’t live in the city, but I’m not too far away either. It’s pretty cool knowing that our little piece of home is a vacation destination for others. I don’t make it into the city much anymore—it’s gotten a bit too crowded and busy for me—but I still love the music and food when I do venture that way.

  3. What an amazing tour stop, Diane! You both had a lovely hotel stay with great views and accommodations and the local amenities and sites looked like so much fun! 💕

  4. I liked how you have pictures looking up and looking down Diane. My, those buildings look so high up! It does look clean, as you say and the river running through the heart of town (or appears to be – I unfortunately have never been there) makes it great for gatherings, nightlife, etc. I would like that river cruise – how fun. I like how everything is lit up. That was a great deal for your hotel to have the free meals and drinks, which might have otherwise have cost a fortune. I’ll look forward to the part two and am sorry to see the end of the trip pics.

    • Thank you for your kind words Linda! The cruise guy said the entire river going through the town is all natural except one small section where I think he said they needed to make it wider.

  5. Diane, nice to be visiting here again, and it looks like you did a fair amount of visiting yourself. The Riverwalk is one of my bucket list destinations, and I really enjoyed all of these SA shots!

    • Thank you Bruce! This was on my bucket list too, for decades. The ambiance while being there was the unforgettable! We were so lucky it never rained during the entire 13 day trip out west.

  6. I love that pink horse drawn carriage. It must have been so nice sitting on your balcony overlooking the river. Also how fun to be able to have your meal on a boat in the river. It kind of looked romantics despite there being a lot of people on there.

    • Thank you Misty! I didn’t even realize the people were eating until I posted the picture. 🤣 That was the first night getting there and I took that picture and the horses immediately, it was beautiful with all the lights. Our cruise was the next day in the daylight, more pictures of that next week.

  7. How lucky you were to have a hotel looking over the river. We were about half a block down, so close enough to spend a lot of time there, both night and day. I loved people watching. This was a bucket list place for me, but Ray and I never made it. I went with my friend.

    • That was nice you could go with a friend. My husband traveled here after he graduated from college. I told him we didn’t have to go and then added it’s always been on my bucket list, it worked. 🤣

      • I’m a history buff, so it was The Alamo that I wanted to see, and boy was I shocked at how small it was. The River Walk was the highlight for sure.

      • My husband is like you with history and I want to see nature. Besides, he went there the first time he was there right after college. The Riverwalk was more than I expected!

  8. A hotel room with a view – that’s nice! Free breakfast, free supper, and free drinks … I like that 😁. A river cruise is always a nice thing to do to when you want to see a city from a different angle. Beautiful photos.

    • The food was pretty good for free. We happened to book the hotel because it was near our first stop, we had no idea they gave you all the food and drinks for free. Since we booked hotels as we went, my hubby booked the same kind every night. We lucked out getting that room on the river. We saved a lot of money! Thank you Corna!
