Route 66 Candy Factory & Round Barn

This was a fun place to read the labels of their products, the place was huge. My husband bought chocolate covered candy and by the time we got to the hotel it was soft. He put it in the refrigerator and the entire bag had melted together in one big clump, he threw it away. This was one of those stops that you see and just have to stop. Another fun stop on Rt 66 and counting.

Gas was a whole lot cheaper on Rt 66 in Phillipsburg, Missouri than it is in Ohio.

Rock candy and cotton candy, two of my favorites.

That’s a lot of taffy!

I would have loved to try the Habanero.

Chocolate covered pretzels, peanut brittle and too much more to mention.

Popcorn is my weakness, and they had 60 flavors.

I could have bought one of everything in this store. I was good and didn’t buy anything because we brought a bag of snacks for the car from home.

The Round Barn was a stop on old Rt 66 in Arcadia, Oklahoma. The round shape is supposed to have protected this barn when there was heavy wind as the wind whips right around the round roof and building. It was built in 1898 and restored in 1992. Check out that blue sky.

I had to take a picture of my speedometer when I was driving 81 mph. We have never been on a road with a speed limit more than 75 mph. My husband had a fit because he didn’t get to go that fast when he took over driving. Haha
More fun stops in a week!

What a surfeit. The logic of the round barn is interesting
Thank you Derrick. We thought they round barn was interesting too, that’s we stopped to see it.
Yes very true. My parents had 57 years and my dads parents 50 years and my moms parents 45 years.
How amazing!
Well happy Anniversary. My wife and I will have 34 next March.
We are rare couples anymore. We both can be very proud we always worked things out and stayed together.
Wow looks like you’re having fun 🤩 Good for you guys 👍🏼🤓
Thank you it is a perfect trip. An early celebration of our 35th anniversary in November.
Any diabetic candy that is sugar free!?? My hub is a diabetic.
I believe so my husband is too. He only buys sugar free.
Since we live in Missouri, I have seen that candy store many times, but we’ve never stopped. I love candy! And that is why we haven’t stopped. It sounds like you’re having a fun trip!
Yes a fantastic trip. You need to go there, buy the habanero sauce and tell me how it tasted. Haha
I will buy it and give it to you! I have a guess as to how it tastes!
You are so sweet Betty!
I’ve never seen a round barn! Stores like that are such fun to visit.
I agree Linda, and learning about the history of it too.
Thank you Ned!
Something sweet for everyone at that stopover!
It was fun just to look but I must admit it was very tempting.
ooh, I’d want to look at everything!
I wanted to buy everything I looked at. 🤣
I can imagine
A giant blob of melted candy – oops! Looks like quite the candy store and speed limits about 75? I didn’t realize they went higher than that! How fun!
The 80 mph didn’t last long and my hubby drove way more than I did so I thought it was hilarious I was driving.
Oh, this looks like such a fun place to visit Diane. I would literally have been the kid in the candy store just browsing like you did. The hot sauce was funny, as was the hot peanuts but the array of candies and snack foods just blows my mind. I have never been in a car going that fast. Did you wish you had a helmet like Speed Racer?
It was fun but there were so many products for sale it was overwhelming for me. That’s why I didn’t buy any, I wouldn’t have stopped. Maybe later in the trip I will buy more. Plus whatever we bought had to be carried in and out of the car since we only stayed one night in each hotel. Poor Terry had to lift it all so added candy would only make things heavier. Lol
That’s right – you don’t have a trunk. Well, it was a fun experience to see. It reminded me of the old bulk food stores, but this was always prepackaged. I am looking forward to seeing your other fun stops along Route 66.
The only thing I would have bought candy wise, would be chocolate and it was too warm to keep them in the Jeep, ask Terry. Haha
That gave you license to buy something else later in the trip since you did not indulge here!
You know me well! You know I did! 🤣
Ha ha – yes!
I want to visit that candy factory! Your husband threw the candy away – oh, that must have been a sad day 🫨. Sixty flavours of popcorn – what?!? And LOVE the blue sky – haven’t seen that in more than a week here in Cape Town!
The weather has been amazing. We ended up with only 1 hot day and no rain. Haha For my husband to throw away candy, you know he couldn’t eat it in a large clump,
My husband would have loved that store! Popcorn is my favourite too! I bought a bag of white cheddar today. I like the round barn, I haven’t seen one before
If I wasn’t on vacation and having to carry everything in and out of the hotel each night I would have bought so much!
You have a lot of restraint for not buying anything from the Candy Factory, Diane! I’m impressed. I would’ve had to get some popcorn and some whoopass peanuts. What a fun store! Definitely catches the eye as you drive by. 😊 I’m glad to see you both had such a fun trip together! 🥰
If we wouldn’t have had to carry them in and out of the hotel every night I would have bought plenty.
Mmm, I’m gonna have to check this place out! My sister and I live stops like this! What a great venture!
We had much fun, what a perfect vacation!
I loved reading about the candy store. Your husband, however, committed a huge SIN in my book.😉 I would NEVER consider throwing away CHOCOLATE. 😳You just refrigerate it and consume with enthusiasm!
I must admit, I have never seen him throw away candy. Lol We didn’t have a cooler and having diabetes he couldn’t devour it before it melted in the car. Lol He made it up with our meals.
That’s a lot of candy and sweets. Looks like y’all had a great trip!!
It sure was! Yes our trip was perfect, thank you!
A round barn! How cool!
And candy everywhere. Yum!
That was the first time we saw a round barn. It was fun reading all the labels on the items in the candy store
