Uranus – Route 66 In Missouri

We discovered the quirky charm of Uranus in Missouri. We explored unique displays, fun activities and a nostalgic vibe. Check out our pictures and see what we saw.
On our trip out west, we saw multiple billboard signs for Uranus. Our curiosity got the better of us and I had to stop and see what it was all about. It turned out to be a stupid kind of fun and we were happy we stopped there.

You couldn’t miss this out by the road in their parking lot.

There were multiple buildings to look at and some to check out inside.

It was like visiting an old small western town.

They don’t make cars like this anymore!

So many fun things to look at outside.

I don’t know how they came up with their unique displays!

Now for the inside displays.

We could only wish gas was 50 cents per gallon!

What a sense of humor.

When you stuck your hand in the opening it blew a puff of air.

For this picture display, you walked behind the wall and put your face in the holes of WANTED or REWARD so you could have your picture taken.

That is a lot of shackles.

Not real but from a distance it looked real.

I saved my favorite two pictures for last.

When we looked inside the box we found these baby rattlers.
There was a large gift shop, chocolate candy and ice cream too.
More pictures in a week!

I have passed by that place a number of times. You pretty much confirmed my suspicions- a lot of hokey fun and a few double entendres on some of the signs. All in all, no harm done, though.
Just a silly fun time.
That’s sweet. Life is hard enough.
Quirky indeed
Thank you Derrick, we had a lot of laughs.
Babay Rattlers part made me laugh! 😀 Thank you for sharing!
It was so stupid it was funny! Such a fun place to see. You’re welcome!
Thank you! I’m waiting for teleport…Greetings from Latvia!
You’re welcome and teleport would be amazing! I would be doing vacation every week! Lol
Yes! I would do the same 🙂 Too rainy, to Spain. Too hot – to Alaska 🙂
What a wild, crazy place. It looks like what you are calling shackles are horse bits, Diane? 🤨
You are absolutely right, not that I thought you weren’t. You are the google of farm animals and especially horses! Thank you for letting me know. 🥰
Oh, 😂, I hope I didn’t sound too smarty. 😵💫
Not at all!
Thank you!
Rte 66 is fa, ous for having these quirky places!
I loved the baby rattlers!
How far west are you going?
Making many stops as far west as Grand Canyon and south to Phoenix and to San Antonio.
That is awesome! Enjoy!
Thanks!
Oh the times they have surly changed. My youth and for sure our countries. I think I loved life more not knowing anything about real life 🙂
I agree but as a kid I don’t think we had so many issues with real life. It was fun just being a kid!
True and 3 tv stations
The “stupid kind of fun” is the best kind of fun. Love that you took this detour during your trip. It really looks like landing on another planet, Diane. And I bet there were many cheeky jokes made about the word Uranus too. These moments make roadtrips and long drives so memorable!
The Arch and Uranus was fantastic. I haven’t told anyone but this trip was to celebrate our 35th anniversary early. It isn’t until November but due to medical issues with a family member we went early. If we didn’t go when we did we wouldn’t have been able to go. Besides that I wanted to see the dessert flowers, wait until I post those pictures! Our trip to Hawaii for our 30th anniversary was cancelled because that was when covid hit. We are hoping to take more trips.
Happy early 35th, Diane. A great way to celebrate. I hope your family member will be ok!
Thank you Ab!
I love visiting quirky tourist trips and this one looks fantastic !
There was so much to look at and it all was fun.
Looks fun!
Thank you Katelon, it was so much fun.
What a hoot! When you go there, expect some fun–I’d love to do just that. But I’d beware of the rattlers! I think those “shackles” are actually horse bits for bridles. I’m not an expert on either subject though.
You are right Linda and ones like that sell for $80 on Etsy.
I love it! That’s the sort of place we like to stop.
It was a blast and packed with people. I love stopping at places that we just find by chance.
OMG the puns 😂
It was quite the place. As soon as anyone walked in they shouted where the bathroom was. Then when you leave they shouted out something funny about Uranus, we were cracking up!
Omg that sounds like an amazing experience. I’m glad y’all decided to check it out.
Thank you it was a perfect trip.
It looks like a very punny place to visit. I have never heard of this place but it is a stop I would have made too. The “baby rattlers” cracked me up too. When we traveled Route 66 many years ago, we stopped at a place for me, the kid, that was similarly made like a old western town. Wouldn’t it be funny if this was the same place but modernized a lot more? That place was a bit wacky as well and they had a stuffed bucking bronco you could sit on after you put on chaps and a hat and got your picture taken. They had a chicken that played the xylophone – it walked back and forth on the top of a huge xylophone and made music and had a mock graveyard with tombstones with funny sayings on them.
I love those kind of places. The old Rt 66 hasn’t changed much and as we drove the new road we actually drove almost next to the old Rt 66.
Really – interesting. Well, this place I went to might have turned into your venue as it was right along Route 66 … a big tourist attraction, especially the talented chicken. 🙂
I think that was the fun part of seeing the old Rt 66, I assume everything was like it was when it was the main route. There are a lot of abandoned buildings, too, but the ones that are there seemed in good shape.
That’s incredible when you think of it, all of them still standing. I remember stopping at a lot of small gas stations along the way. Like you’d see in old movies or TV shows with the Coke machine, the old Coke bottles or Orange Crush bottles, always on the outside of where you paid. I don’t think they had convenience stores attached in those days.
You will enjoy all the other pictures we took on Rt 66 too.
I am sure I will Diane!
looks like a really fun stop – and also an experience, especially with the display that has the face in the holes of WANTED or REWARD- how cool
It was a great first stop on old Rt 66.
;0) safe travles on such an iconic path
Thank you and you as well!
Uranus must have the most fun and colourful road signs ever! What a quirky town! I really enjoyed the photos – there is so much detail to look at that I had to go through your post twice to make sure I didn’t miss anything😁.
Right! I thought we would be in and out but we had so much fun looking at everything.
Oh wow Dianne that place looks really cool. It’s exactly the type of place that Clint and I would stop at and spend a few hours. I love the baby rattlers lol
Me too and even better is we just stopped because of the signs, it was not planned. The signs definitely draw the customers, it was very busy.
I love road trip stories and photos! Keep them coming 🙂
Baby Rattlers – ha! They had a sense of humor!
It was pretty funny there! You will probably be sick of my pictures by the time I’m done. 🤣
What a sweet find on Route 66 – thanks for the entertainment!💖💖💖💖😊
You’re very welcome! I can’t wait to share more.
What fun! I am enjoying your road trip immensely! Karla Meyette
Thank you Karla! There are a few new stops posted today. They will be getting better as we head closer to the Grand Canyon.
