Stovetop Blueberry Sauce

This is my favorite sauce to pour over pancakes and not because I grow my own blueberries either! Use it over ice cream, biscuits, oatmeal or over whatever you want.

  1. I don’t know why I was so stupid to read your post before lunchtime! It looks delicious … and I bet it tastes even better because it’s your own homegrown blueberries! I can only imagine how delicious this can be with Greek yogurt for breakfast. Thanks Diane, I’ll save this one!

  2. I’ve made this kind of thing with various fruits like raspberry’s and strawberries ect, but never thought of trying blueberries. Great that you grow your own as well. I bet this is nice ono waffles with a dash of ice cream too.

  3. That looks so satisfying to make and looks so delicious! Love that you can also use it for other desserts, like ice cream. I never realized nor thought about using a corn starch slurry for something sweet! But it makes sense to also use it to thicken this up. Learned something cool today! 😊

      • I didn’t know they still made it – I just Googled and they have it at Kroger and Walmart and, of course, Amazon. The Smuckers blueberry syrup doesn’t have whole blueberries in it like yours though.

      • I figured with everyone watching sugar intake these days, they might have discontinued it, but apparently not. We bought the strawberry syrup too.

      • Yes, it is cheaper to make your own. That Smucker’s syrup was pricey even back then when we got it. We used to get it for Pancake Tuesday for sure. One day I’d like to go to the Metorparks to watch the maple syrup process. I thought of it this year, but Oakwoods Metropark is likely just as flooded as any other park right now due to the rapid snow/ice melt. Nothing in nature is in moderation any more.

      • A fellow blogger who lived in Connecticut at the time, did a post on the maple syrup process. I was shocked to see all that work for that small amount of syrup. I used to put maple syrup in my oatmeal, but started putting a scoop of peanut butter in instead. My mom always put syrup in hot cereals.

      • Real maple syrup is very sweet, I’ll agree. When we had pancakes or waffles we got the smallest bottle of Canadian syrup, but it didn’t last very long.
