Strawberry Boba Bubble Tea Recipe

Have you ever heard of Boba Bubble Tea? My granddaughter is obsessed with it so I bought everything I needed to make it on Christmas Day to surprise her.

I had no idea how to make it so I researched it on line. There must be a hundred different ways you can make it such as with black tea, green tea, milk etc. I bought strawberry Boba, strawberry syrup, plastic glasses with lids and Boba straws. The Boba straws are large in order to suck up the Boba balls without breaking them. My husband made me a few gallons of black tea too.

Everyone picked what color straw they wanted, that way they knew which drink was theirs.

First I added about 1/4 cup of the Boba balls with some of the juice in the container.

Next I added 3 pumps from the strawberry syrup.

I added a handful of ice.

I filled the glass up with black tea.

Then I stirred and topped with the lid and the color straw they picked.
That is it, so simple!
Now for a little history about Boba Bubble Tea according to Google AI.
- It originated in Taiwan in the 1980’s.
- A tea stand owner began adding fruit flavorings to her tea which was popular with children.
- She would shake the tea to mix it together which created bubbles in the tea.
- The Boba are made with tapioca pearls. In 1988 the tapioca pearls were added to and served in cold infused tea. The tapioca pearls sat on the bottom of the glass which looked like bubbles.
- The Boba Bubble Tea spread to other countries.
- Taiwanese immigrants brought bubble tea to the United States in the 1990’s, starting in California.
- Bubble Tea is made by mixing tea with milk or fruit and chewy tapioca pearls. It also goes by other names.
It was so much fun and different to have Boba Bubble Tea for Christmas. The look on my granddaughters face when she saw the ingredients was priceless!
If you haven’t tried one yet and you see one on the menu or at the mall food court stand, buy one and see what you think of them. When you suck up a Boba pearl, you bite it or press it with your tongue and the pearl pops in your mouth with the most delicious strawberry liquid or what ever flavor you choose.

If you ever get a chance, do try!
That looks like fun
It really was fun and they tasted so refreshing. Thank you Derrick!
That looks very legit, Diane. Congrats on your homemade boba! T likes the strawberry boba too!
Thank you T has good taste!
Is this one of those morning drinks after a night of drinking I’ve heard so much about? 🤣🤣
Merry Christmas Goddess. And a very happy New Year. Pop some bubbles for New Year’s Eve
I actually thought the Boba would be good with champagne or wine instead of tea! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and you have an even better New Year JC!
Oh wow, that’s pretty cool! I have never heard of this tea but it sounds delicious. What a wonderful treat to make for your granddaughter 🙂
If you ever get a chance to try one, do! I don’t know that I would like all of them, however, the strawberry was delicious and fun. Thank you Susan!
I’ve only had it once and it was okay. I don’t think I’m the audience for it, but my daughter loves it.
I don’t know if I would enjoy the ones made with milk. I love black tea and with the strawberry syrup and the Tapioca pearls full of a delicious pop of strawberry, I was hooked! Lol
I like Boba. So much fun
Me too! I have a feeling I will be expected to make them every Christmas now. 🤣
I know there is a shop in my town for Boba Bubble Tea. I need to give it a try! That was a fun thing to do for your granddaughter.
Yes you do! The strawberry was so refreshing. I’m not sure I would want one with milk after having strawberry and tea. I definitely made my granddaughter a happy camper on Christmas. She drank the most and there were 9 of us. Lol
This looks refreshing Diane. That was nice of you to surprise your granddaughter like this. I like tapioca pudding, so I’d probably like this too.
My granddaughter will not forget this Christmas. She even took one home with her. Lol
She probably took a picture of that one (or the ones you made from Christmas) and showed her friends what a cool grandma she has!
Haha I did send her a picture of what I ordered in case she could talk her mom into spending $20 just for the Boba. Then the syrup and straws are a must too. I predict every Christmas she will ask if I am making them again. Maybe, in a year, the phase will be gone. Lol
You are funny! How long has the Boba been a trend so far? I never heard of it until the other blogger mentioned it this past Summer.
I would say almost a year in our town.
That long – see I was thinking maybe it was more of an overseas trend that finally came over here to the States.
It first was introduced to California in the 90’s.
That’s a long time ago – I did read that now that I think of it in the bottom part with the facts and figures.
Love bubble tea. It’s really big here where I live.
It is getting very popular all over. I took my grandkids out to eat and they ordered one. Then the owner sucked me in by giving me one to try, I had never had one before. Talk about great marketing!
That is so sweet of you! Boba is everywhere around these parts. I’m not crazy about the texture, however. :/ But, the rest of the drink is always good! 🙂
She was pretty excited. We figured out how much to add of each ingredient together. After that she kept making them including the one with the glass half full of the pearls she took home. 😂
I have heard of Boba Bubble Tea, but I’ve never tried it.
I loved the strawberry Boba Tea. I hope you get a chance to try it as it is a different sensation popping these bubbles and having sweet strawberry come out of them.
John’s granddaughter is obsessed with it also and he takes her for Boba every week for her grandpa date afternoon! I think it is gross as I do not like my beverage chewy – ha!
Awe what a special time with grandpa! She will always remember those days. My granddaughter walked in the house today and went right for the refrigerator. She said where is the Boba? Sorry I used the last of it for my blog and me. 🤷🏽♀️
Ha!
That’s real nice
Thank you!
