New Kitchen Remodel First Update

I will hold off on my before picture until the kitchen is finished so you can appreciate the difference when it is complete. Gone is the 70’s and coming is a brand new modern kitchen.
We had to make a decision to hire a company with people we didn’t know or hire a friend that has been in the construction business for decades, does very detailed quality work and we trust him completely. A company would have finished in a lot less time whereas our friend works full time and he is working here only on Saturdays for now. It was a no brainer, we hired our friend.
Our kitchen is gutted, the electric is in, the drywall is finished (except for the ceiling) and some of the kitchen and the living room has the start of the new floor. We have a pretty big dining room that was remodeled last year so we are continuing with the same flooring that we put in the dining room.
All of my new matching stainless steel Bosch appliances are here, crammed on my foyer floor and blocking my front door. The new refrigerator is in the dining room temporarily and we are using it already, without the water hookup. We will finally be able to get water and ice from a refrigerator door as we have never been able to fit a large refrigerator under our cabinet before. I will also have my very first gas range with a built in convection oven included with the regular oven and it is also self cleaning, a must for me! The dishwasher has so many features, I will do a post on it and all of the other appliances once they are installed and working. The microwave is pretty normal, however, I have lived with the microwave taking up precious counter space my entire adult life. Now I will have one that is above the gas stove.
Stay tuned for the New Kitchen Remodel Second Update.

Pretty exciting! It will be so cool to compare your before to the after when you share those photos!
I can’t wait to see the finished project and to share it with everyone. You will be so surprised by what it looked like before.
Yes hurry up we are getting impatient 😉
That’s how I keep you coming back. 🤣
How exciting
It really is, the old cabinets were in such bad shape. Plus we are making it an open floor plan which will make it seem so much bigger.
How exciting for you! When it is all done it will be well worth it!
Looking forward to seeing your new kitchen. Happy June!
Thank you my friend!
Exciting to have a new kitchen.
Yes especially when we have lived here for over 30 years and it’s the same kitchen from when the house was built in the 70’s! Lol
Exciting
It sure is Sheree. I never thought it would happen.
Oh Diane, I’m so excited on your behalf! We love our Bosch appliances (which have lasted for many years now and still looks brand new) and your self-cleaning oven sounds like a dream! I think from today I will enjoy a glass of sparkling wine every Friday night until your new kitchen is finished … you know, like moral support!
Hahaha Thank you Corna! I will make sure they don’t get it finished too soon so you can enjoy even more wine.
it will all be worth it when it is finished!
I agree but I’m ready for it to be done already. Lol
Worth only of a goddess!
Thank you my friend, miss hearing from you.
I can’t wait to see this done. You won’t want to leave your kitchen.
When we remodeled last year, we put in Bosch appliances and I absolutely love them! The dishwasher does an amazing job, is super energy efficient, and even has the handy third rack for those little things like canning jar lids that don’t otherwise seem to stay put. The refrigerator is a dream as well!
Can’t wait to see the before pictures too!
So far we love the refrigerator although it’s so large we can’t put the handles on yet until we get it out of the dining room through the door or it won’t fit. 🤣 I can’t wait to have a gas range. I have gone through so many electric ranges and hated everyone for one reason or another. I didn’t mind the glass top until I dropped something on it and shattered the glass. Then another electric coil range after that but the newer and improved burners have a sensor that shuts the burner on and off while you cook which really messes up a recipe! Our dishwasher sounds similar to yours with the third shelf. My husband tends to hand wash the dishes (and not very well lol) so I told him that as energy efficient as this is we will not be hand washing anymore.
Exactly! Our friend the architect and all around smart appliance guy told me that he has done all the calculations, and with these new super efficient dishwashers, it is better to just run through a partial load than stand at the sink and hand wash. It makes sense, so now we only was those few things that can’t go in, or, like my measuring cups and spoons, if I put them in the dishwasher, I will inevitably need them before the load is finished!
I was impressed that the way the heater is, you can put plastic in on any shelf you want. It said nothing will melt. Then the door opens to release the steam and a light shines on the floor when it’s finished running. I think this thing s from outer space!
Exciting!
Yes!!!! Thank you
We had that same lamp but with blue shades. One of the kids broke one and we were never able to find a replacement. Good luck with the kitchen reno. I’m redoing the bathroom making it safer for me.
My daughter was going to throw that lamp away. My husband took it for his man room in the basement. We have used it for things like this more times than I can say. Good for you for making the bathroom safer. It will be worth every dollar you spend!
Looks like you’ve made lots of progress. I remember when we had out kitchen done and they gutted the old one, it looked so empty! You’ll have your shiny new kitchen soon now 🙂
I can’t wait!!!!
How exciting! Thanks for sharing this renovation, Diane💜 From what you’ve described, the final result will be modern and fabulous.
If everything goes as planned Jonetta, it will be amazing compared to what was there. I have watched every kitchen renovation on TV for over a year marking down everything I wanted. When the designer drew it up on the computer my mouth dropped. The lady said she wished she could have a kitchen like mine. Lol
I so love the dual oven we have. Half oven and a full size oven. No warming drawer, but who uses that to keeps tuff warm? Sounds exciting, looking forward to the before after photos.
Oh no, I have the warming drawer. I’m actually hoping I can figure out a way to use that for rising dough. When I was a kid we had a gas range and the pilot light was the perfect heat to rise the dough, now it’s electronic. I have dual fuel as it has a self cleaning oven too. It will be fun to figure out and I can’t wait to use it. I have to be the only person more excited to get these appliances than the kitchen itself. 🤣
when we moved I gave up baking bread. I used to use an old all-in-one home bread machine to do the mixing and proofing. Didn’t use it for baking.
I just threw 2 of those away. They were great at first then the bread stuck to the sides.
Never ran into that problem. I guess I should have used it more.
What a great present for yourself, someone who loves being in the kitchen and creating food. I know this will turn out to be everything you wanted and more Diane!
I am sure it will Linda, it is so exciting!
So exciting, Diane! You will be on top of the world when this is finished.
I really will Linda. My kitchen was so old, the drawers were beginning to not close easily etc. From Formica to granite woo hoo. But my greatest joy will be the gas range. I am super excited about that.
You made the right choice to work with someone trusted for such a beloved space in your home. I can’t wait to see the before and after!
We think so the man is a perfectionist too! All of our floors squeaked and he has put over a thousand screws in all the floors he has done. We had a squeak in the hall that he put a screw in every inch and it wouldn’t stop squeaking. When he went to lay the new flooring on top he figured out it had something to do with a board going into the wall. I was thrilled to have a quiet floor after all these years.
This sounds so much like our remodel two years ago. We hired a trusted friend that was actually in youth group at our church with our son. He has a hard time finding good help so most of what he does is by himself. He is a stickler for details and does beautiful work. He handmade our cabinets, for instance, and they are beautiful. It was well worth the time it took as he remodeled our whole main level. I also have a gas stove for the first time and I love it! Anyway, you will so enjoy your new kitchen and I can’t wait to see it!
You were as lucky as we are to have a good person to do the work. The stove is the most exciting part of the remodel for me. Lo

Thank you so much!
