Baked City Chicken

Pork cubes skewered and baked in the oven with a sauce for a fantastic start to your dinner menu. I have eaten these since I was a child when my mom made them but without the sauce.

Happy new year 🎂
Thank you, Happy New Year!
What an interesting piece of trivia. It is interesting to see how recipes created during hard times have remained over time. I will have to try making this just for the story itself!
We really enjoy this recipe and it brings back so many memories for me, thank you Ab.
This looks really good – and a fascinating explanation
Thank you Derrick.
We used to have this when I was a child, haven’t thought of Cory chicken in a long time
I have been making it since I left my parent’s house and that was a LONG time ago! 🤣
Ah, the other white meat!
Hahaha yes!
You got me here. This looks good and the fact that you use pork instead of chicken makes it better. By the way, did you know that yesterday was national bacon day? I found out too late to celebrate appropriately
Sorry this is so late but I didn’t know that, besides I thought every day was bacon day! 🤣
You learn something new every day, I had never heard of city chicken. Happy New Year.
I actually had a large pork roast so I cut a section off of that and cubed the meat to make the city chicken. Thank you Karen, Happy New Year!
I don’t think I’ve ever had City Chicken. I am not living right I tell you. I’ve been introduced to lots of different foods and treats through your blog Diane. Happy New Year!
Thank you Linda!
Chicken? Pork? At first I thought I wasn’t reading it right! I’m glad you did your research. Such an interesting story!
A childhood favorite for me Linda, thank you!
I haven’t made city chicken in such a long time. Thanks for the reminder to make it soon, Diane.
You’re welcome Carla, it brings back so many memories for me.
A tasty dish (and with the sauce a definite winner)!
My mom didn’t add a sauce but I am not crazy about white meat, I like dark meat, so the sauce made the white meat taste good and moist. Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you 🥰
