Honey Custard French Toast
I have never made French Toast with Honey Custard before and it was delicious! This recipe will feed 6 people or you could freeze any leftovers. I could eat this Honey Custard French Toast for any meal, not just breakfast.

Ingredients – Butter for browning too.
In a large bowl whisk the eggs.
Add the honey, milk, cinnamon
and salt to the eggs.
Whisk really well until the honey and
cinnamon are completely mixed in.
This will take a couple of minutes.
This is now the custard.
Melt about 1 Tbsp of butter in a
large frying pan over medium heat.
Place the bread into the custard.
Soak up the custard briefly, turning the
bread over to briefly soak the other side too.
Cook the bread until it is golden brown.
Turn over and brown the other side too.
Remove to a plate and keep warm.
Add another tablespoon of butter
with each addition of bread.
Place on a serving plate
and serve with honey.

I’ve done something similar using nutmeg, but less sweetener. I found that the outside got too brown before the inside was cooked through. Maybe I was using too hot a temperature, which was 350° on an electric frying pan.

I used a medium heat with a cast iron pan. They turned out perfect. Maybe it was the cast iron pan that made them so good?

I formerly used my 70-something year old cast iron pan for nearly everything; now love my Calphalon pans way more!

Again, something delicious AND feasible. Have you ever tried to make this recipe with a different kind of bread, Diane. I can imagine it would be tasty even with whole wheat, or raisin bread.

No this was my first time making it but I bet it would be great with any bread!

I make a pretty solid French toast with wheat bread (I mix a touch of vanilla extract into the custard base). The addition of honey sounds awesome.
