Christmas Golden Kolachy Cookies
There are only four ingredients in these Golden Kolacky Cookies and they tasted like they came from a bakery! This recipe doesn’t make a lot and the fruit preserves add a nice variety to my cookie tray. What is fascinating about this recipe is that there isn’t any added granulated sugar in the recipe. The sugar is only in the form of the fruit preserves. These freeze well too! This is the 8th cookie recipe of about 15 that I will be posting.

We had a Hungarian neighbor and she made them every year and brought over a plate and that’s where I first tasted them. We had a Hungarian store nearby and they sold the Solo fruit fillings in lots of flavors, so we went there to buy them as the regular grocery store did not sell them. My mom used to make them years ago – even a poppyseed Kolacky.

What great memories Linda! I always wanted to make the poppyseed one but still haven’t.

Yes, we got to try several Hungarian desserts from our elderly neighbor and also a friend of the family too. She was the one who suggested trying the poppyseed. It was good, but I don’t know if everyone would like poppyseed. Apricot or raspberry are more common.
