Toasted buns topped with ground beef, pizza sauce, cheese and any of your favorite pizza toppings like mushrooms, onions, bacon etc. This was one of the first meals I made when I left my parents house and I am still making it 40 years later. It is a very kid friendly meal because you can put only the items they like on individual pizza burgers. I even ask them what kind of cheese they want which keeps everyone happy!

  1. Of all the food blogs I have read, yours out to be the best not for the niceness in the pictures and delicacy in recipes. I love the pictures as they are very clear thus, making me salivate. Ooooh! How I wish I could access them right away.

  2. I used to make these similar to this recipe when my kids were little. Coming home exhausted from work, this made easy and quick work to feed a family of 5. Thanks for the memories!

    • Kids and adults love these. The kids tend to eat them like I show but adults want to add more toppings. Me, I can eat them any way!!! I never get tired of these. Happy Valentine’s Day!

  3. Something I love about your recipes is you take pretty well known commonly beloved foods and recreate them into something unique and fun!! I always think “How is this not a common thing?!”. I just love this idea! I bet I could substitute the burger meat with some vegan meat and keep the regular around for the husband. Thanks for sharing, Diane! Hope you are well.

  4. This was a go-to meal in our house when I was growing up. Every Saturday during the late fall and winter, my mom made these for dinner. I loved these!!! We lost the recipe over the years and now I have it again. Thank you Diane!!

  5. My husband used to make something similar when we first got married. The toasted buns would make them so much better! I’ll have to make these.

  6. Pizza burgers, what a cracking idea.

Definitely one for my “single man’s cooking” collection. I’d like to try it with my own home-made pizza sauce, it would be a good way to use up the leftover which I always seem to have.

  7. it should read Italian pizza oven not over but no white letter remain on old key board so must change it now. Pizza comes from the Arab Moors who created the cities of Venice and built Al Hambra Palace in Granada Spain in 11th century Pizza in Arab is suc avien meaning flat oven bottom. It was adopted by Italian traders in 15th century and the British in 1602 cooked it for troops fighting the Dutch wars. My oven is made of soap stone base and insulated heavy metal lid over the base with elements in that heat. Called Ferrari by Geno Venice made .can buy on internet for under 150 pounds .it really bakes and crusts home made or even bought pizza or home bake bread . Buns and bacon sandwhich goes well in it too.

  8. Oh yes, add some other stuff and the kids will love them. Another easy thing to make for one of those swim and dinner evenings in the summer.

  9. you are a bleeping genius! Hi there. I am going around the neighborhood introducing myself. My name is Marc. My blog contains excerpts from my book The Driveway Rules. It contains memoirs about growing up with undiagnosed autism. I hope you stop by.

    • I look forward to it! I retired in August and was an Independent Provider for developmentally disabled adults. My main client has Autism and I still keep in contact with her and her mom. Thank you for checking out my blog.

    • Thank you, could this be made with a substitutes? Maybe use lettuce in place of the bun and substitute vegan meat and cheese, just a thought. I need to learn more about vegan and plant based food. We are talking about trying it once a week to get started.
