Bread Pudding
Old fashioned Bread Pudding just like Grandma use to make. Bread pudding has been around for centuries. Way back when it was considered a poor mans pudding. They would make it by using up their stale bread which is exactly what I did! Bread Pudding can be eaten with or without the sauce on top. We ate it right out of the oven while it was still hot and it tasted absolutely delicious!

I tried bread pudding for the first time just last year. I couldn’t believe what I had been missing. This recipe’s going in my “to make” pile. Thanks!
I think a lot of people have never tried it! I don’t think we make anything like this anymore. You’re welcome Amanda!

You will not believe it but I made a bread and butter loaf with fresh cream and raisins last evening.Yes about a 1000 year old recipe I used from time of Norman conquest 1066. Ill try yours next time stale bread is available.
Great minds think alike Kevin…lol Have a great day!

Well I love monkey bread and I’ve only had bread pudding once, but as I remember it, it was pretty good!
I honestly like them both about the same but then again, any homemade sweet is delicious in my eyes…..lol
Homemade always tastes better!
And by the way, I am giving away most of the sweets!

Mmmmmmmmm!

Looks so yummy! Who could say “no” to this delicious pudding?
I know right! Recipes from the old days are the best! Thank you Megala!
What a coincidence! There’s stale bread in my house! I’m definitely making this!
The reason it is so good with stale bread is that the stale bread is so dry it soaks up the liquid. Enjoy!
I see. Thanks!
Always a favorite when we were growing up. Mom would take stale bread and tuck it in the freezer until she had enough to make the pudding. She usually made hers with raisins, and often added orange zest. Yum!
Raisins are a must! I never heard of adding orange zest, what a nice touch! Thank you Dorothy!
You’re welcome Diane! I think mom just liked to always fiddle with things, and she loved orange and lemon in everything!
Smart lady!
YUM! Bread pudding is one of my favorites.
An oldie but goodie! Thanks!

Bread pudding is so good!
I know right!!!! 😃
I forgot to ask if it’s really sweet
It is sweet but if you don’t like it real sweet use less of the pudding.
Hi Diane, I changed the name of my blog to The Senior Weaver… I’m throwing myself into my weaving and it’s so healing! I love bread pudding. We need to make some. Mary
Mary that’s wonderful you are loving weaving so much. I like your new blog name! I agree, Bread Pudding is so good and an oldie but goodie.
Oooh looks good
Thank you the old time recipes always are.
yummm!!
Thanks so much! 💕
I never heard of this one before, but sounds like idea🎈
It is an old recipe. Thanks!
Bread pudding is not a thing of the past. 🙂 One of my friends makes it regularly but not this type of recipe. I don’t think she uses any eggs and there is quite a bit of mixed spice, a nice version also. When I make it, I use milk, eggs, some sugar, raisins, chocolate chips, and it must have nutmeg on the top. However I rarely have stale bread so rarely make bread pudding.
Ohhhhhh I like your addition of chocolate chips! I thrilled you still make it. I don’t know anyone that does.
It looks absolutely delicious. Thanks for sharing.
You’re very welcome!
I love bread pudding!❤️❤️
Reblogged this on Crackling Pork Rinds.

I love bread pudding. I made a pumpkin one with a bourbon sauce last year, it was wonderful, but the sauce was a bit powerful, probably won’t use the sauce next time. Off to check out your recipe.
I have never heard of using pumpkin bread for bread pudding. That is a fabulous idea! Thank you for sharing that!
