Easy Pizza Dough

This is my favorite pizza dough recipe. Practically no kneading! It is so much better tasting and easier to work with than that canned stuff! I like to make mine up ahead of time and put it in the refrigerator until I make my pizza later that day or even the next day. You can even put it in the freezer. To use it after freezing it, let it thaw overnight in the refrigerator.

  1. Diane,

Is cake flour the same as all purpose flour, only it’s been sifted pretty fine? I was wondering how the cake flour would work to make the pizza dough.

    Thank you,

    Maggy

    • Hi Maggy,
No cake flour is different than all purpose flour as it has a lower protein content, however, you can use cake flour but you need to substitute 1 cup plus 2 Tbsp cake flour for every cup of all purpose flour according to Joy of Baking. I personally have never used cake flour so give it a try and let me know how it works please.
Thank you for your question Maggy.

    • Cake flour is generally great in baked goods where you don’t want to develop gluten, such as pie crust, muffins, cakes, etc. With yeasted breads, you want gluten development, so a higher protein flour is usually recommended. The cake flour is also bleached which also alters the grain.
