Pepperoni Pizza Muffins
Pizza dough filled with pizza sauce, pepperoni and topped with all that cheese! Of course they taste great! You can add more ingredients like mushrooms, onions, green pepper….you get the idea. These are wonderful to make up a batch and then let the kids microwave a few for an after school snack, lunch or even a meal. My husband and I loved them as much as the kids did!
My grandchildren, age 3 and 6, wanted pizza for supper. My 6 year old wanted to make the pizza so I said how about we try something new and make Pizza Muffins? She agreed but only if she could make them and take the pictures for my blog. Yes she has me wrapped around her little finger! Well she did a great job but I cut the dough and took care of the oven part only because those are a little challenging for a 6 year old. They tasted great and the kids loved them.
Take the pizza dough out of the container.
Unroll it and use a rolling pin to roll into a long rectangle.
Place spoonful’s of pizza sauce along the center
of the pizza dough. Keeping it 1/2″ from the edge,
use the back of the spoon and spread the pizza sauce out.
Cut the pepperoni into small pieces and place them evenly over the pizza sauce.
Roll the dough lengthwise pinching the edge to seal.
Using a serrated knife, cut the dough in half making 2 pieces.
Cut those 2 pieces in half making 4 pieces.
Cut each of the 4 pieces into 3 pieces making a total of 12 pieces.
Carefully place the 12 pieces into a greased muffin pan.
Place pizza cheese on top.
Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 12-15
minutes or until the cheese is turning brown.
Let cool for a few minutes.
Run a rubber spatula around the edge of each muffin to
loosen the muffins and they will pop right out, then serve.
Pepperoni Pizza Muffins
15 oz pizza sauce
1 pizza crust dough
pepperoni, chopped small
4 oz shredded pizza cheese
Optional: mushrooms, onions, green peppers etc.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Unroll the pizza dough and using a rolling pin, roll it out lengthwise.
Place spoonful’s of the pizza sauce in the center of the dough lengthwise. Keeping the sauce 1/2″ from the edges, use a spoon and spread the sauce out evenly.
Sprinkle the chopped pepperoni over the sauce.
Roll up the dough lengthwise making one long roll and sealing in the pizza sauce and pepperoni. Once you have your roll, pinch the dough along the edge to seal it up completely.
Using a serrated knife, cut the long roll in half. Now cut those two pieces in half making four pieces.
Cut each of the four pieces into 3 more pieces. You should have 12 pieces now.
Spray a 12 cup muffin pan or cupcake pan with cooking spray.
Carefully place each piece of dough into the muffin or cupcake pan holes.
Cover the pizza muffin dough with the shredded cheese,
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the cheese turns brown.
Let cool for 2 minutes. Run a rubber spatula around the outside edge of the muffin and it will pop right out. Enjoy!
These look good! And what a great project to do with a Grandchild. She did a fantastic job.
All the Best,
Thank you Gwen I will tell her!
This is such a cool idea
Pepperoni pizza is one of my daughter’s favorites! I have to try this, thank you!
Fun idea for kids!
Yes it was! My granddaughter wa so proud!
Looks great! Im not big pepperoni fan, but I’m sure any meat would do. I just made something similiar with chicken in buffalo sauce, and learned a lesson along the way. More meat, less dough. 🙂
Hahaha and use cooked meat!
Yum. A great project to share with your granddaughter, cooking, photography, and your blog.
Thanks Chris! The only thing she didn’t like was that I wouldn’t let her be in a picture…lol
You meanie! Haha
Great idea! And nice to do with your grandkids. Bet they loved it. I’m trying something similar for my little one but she is still under one so trying my best to keep zero salt in the food.
Great idea! If she is brought up without much salt she will never miss having it! Thanks Miss A!
These look really yummy!!
