For those of you that do not know what BLT stands for it is Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato. This sandwich is very popular where I live.
August is that time of the year that our garden is at its peak. It is also the only time of the year that I eat BLT Sandwiches. Why…..because the only tomatoes that taste good to me are the one’s that come fresh out of a garden. There is nothing worse than a hot house tomato from the store!
BLT Sandwiches are simple to make and I’m sure most of you know how to make them, however, there are new cooks popping up every day so this blog is for them.
Another reason to post such a simple recipe is just to remind you of something delicious to make as you browse through my categories of food. One reason I write my blog is to give people ideas of what to cook for meals whether you use my recipe or your own. I think figuring out what to cook every day is harder than actually cooking it!
Spread Miracle Whip, Mayo or whatever you like on one slice of toast. Miracle Whip or Mayo is the traditional way to eat them where I live. Place four pieces of bacon on top.
Place a fresh, vine ripened, home-grown, thick tomato slice on top of the bacon. Of course you can use whatever tomato you would like.
Place a layer of lettuce on top of the tomato.
Top with the last piece of toast. Now you are ready to enjoy one of my favorite summertime sandwiches!
4 slices cooked bacon
2 slices toast
Large leaf of lettuce
1 tomato, sliced thick
Miracle Whip or Mayonnaise
Spread Miracle Whip or Mayonnaise on one piece of toast.
Add all of the bacon.
Place tomato on top of the bacon.
