  1. I think we used to say that the pineapple made it a salad,😉 but looking at the ingredients through the telescope of years, it is undeniably a dessert, a yummy one!

    • Oh yes if I call it a salad then it’s healthy for me! 🤣 My recipe from decades ago was made by whipping cream but it holds up better and longer with Cool Whip.

      • Cool Whip is easier! I know my mom rejoiced when Cool Whip came out and she didn’t use whipping cream or packages of Dream Whip, haul out the beaters and the bowl, etc. Now I want some. It will get watery before I’d eat all of it … ‘course I could eat it all in one sitting and forego that little problem. 🙂

      • Oh, that’s too bad – just kidding! I can’t remember about the ambrosia salad, but my mom sometimes made coleslaw with sour cream, pineapple and marshmallows. She was not keen on it, but I liked it and it would get a bit soggy the next day.

      • Rhubarb already – wow! Is that earlier than usual Diane? We did not have a rhubarb plant but my grandmother did for years. What did you make with the rhubarb?

      • I usually pick it May 5th so it grew and ripened on time. It did seem to pop out of the ground a week early though. I make rhubarb pie, strawberry rhubarb pie, rhubarb cake and rhubarb muffins. My rhubarb is very tart and only one plant even gets a little red so I need to make desserts with lots of sugar. 🤣

      • That is interesting – I had no idea it was that early. When I was young, my grandmother would take me out in her backyard and she’s have her paring knife and cut us each a stalk and we’d come in and clean it with warm water and dip the stalk in sugar while it was warm. It was still tart with all the sugar.

      • I did the same thing but I stuck my small hand through our elderly neighbors fence and broke one off to eat, the neighbor never picked it!

      • I wonder why they never picked it – all that nice rhubarb. When we moved here I hung out with the girl across the street, who was one year younger than me (I was 10). Her mother had put up a metal pool in the backyard and they had a raspberry bush within picking distance while we were bobbing around in the pool. I mentioned it to my mom one day and she said “and they have a male dog who no doubt lifts his leg on those bushes and you eat them off the bush?” I never had another raspberry after that. 🙂

      • Neither did we. Leave it to my mom, but she knew all about “Brownie” the big dog who lived there thanks to me (I revived my “can we get a dog” plea?) Yep, no more berries eaten by leaning over the side of the swimming pool.

(I am still messing with this computer – now almost 13 hours … they figured out it was a buggy Microsoft update and the fix is out now and I am installing it. I got nothing done today as I have five different HP techs and they took hold of the computer each time, trying to figure out the problem. Thankfully it’s still under warranty.)

      • Yes, I had to sit here through it for 11 hours that day, while each one investigated inside my computer and, while I could have gone to the Windows 10 laptop, but occasionally he would message me in the chat box while he was in my computer, so I had to stay put. Why issue the update if it’s buggy – I agree with you Diane.

      • I still have not recouped that 11 hours of time and the hours worrying about the severe weather. Today I had to sort out stuff in my files because I took pictures from the three posts I had to make the Mother’s Day post and had to go back and straighten that stuff out as I usually have all my pictures in my G-mail e-mail (I send pictures sorted by post from G-mail to Comcast) and I don’t download them til I need them. So I was sorting/moving/organizing before I could do my Sunday post as I have assignments for art class due Sunday and haven’t started them as I had errands yesterday. Anyway, somehow I hit a stray key and could not go up and down a level in my pictures or document files. I was trying to figure out what I did as I could not find my desktop and I didn’t want to shut the computer down ungracefully. Meanwhile, the dog was whining and crying, someone was trimming a tree in the small window of time we had no rain and ants were running everywhere. I was really confused what to do, so did “Control, Alt, Delete” and restarted it and everything came back (on the computer that is)- the noise persisted. The ants were bad a few weeks ago, but not as much as usual, but the last few days, it is a major breakout of them. I was looking at a picture on the screen and suddenly an ant walked into the photo. 🙂

      • That was a nightmare Linda! I am having problems too, I wonder if all these issues are worth all the stress we have to deal with. I sent you an email I hope it goes through. I would think the ants would be worse with all the rain.

      • I saw your e-mail last night before I went to bed and today I didn’t get online (to do anything except access the sketching/painting videos which are in a “library on the site she stores them” … today when I got online for everything else, I can’t get into my e-mail as I needed my password to get into Comcast and I had it in my old Windows 10 computer … every few months Comcast asks you to verify by text (which I don’t do) so if you have to put in your password insteaad of just going into Comcast and I can’t remember what I changed it to. It is annoying. It’s like SS – they changed it to a new way to access it, which is what they picked (if you don’t have them text the code each time) … so I had to get an e-mail with pre-approved codes. Hope I don’t lose them. I will try again when I return to the old laptop tomorrow morning. I need to write down all the passwords and I even bought a spiral notebook to do that over the Winter, but I can’t find the notebook.

      • It’s so frustrating with the two step method but it makes me feel secure. It’s super easy to do and nobody can buy anything or do something to your account unless they have your phone. I use it all the time and the face recognition on others.

      • I have to get handier with the smartphone … this is what is holding me back. I apologize for being late in responding here and at e-mail. I had way too many things going on at one time and should have known better than to do that … French has taken a big nose-dive and I am two levels below what I was … Saturday night a friend I’ve known since high school lost her husband (he had medical issues, but suddenly got very sick and died), so I was on FB with her yesterday. I had a ton of photos I edited and then went back out yesterday as we’re having rain Tuesday night through Friday, so I went back out. Today I intended to work outside, but got home from Council Point Park and it was hot – already hot and sticky, so I’ll do it tomorrow I think. I had to come inside and just catch up here after the art class assignments, everything. Then I sat down here about 1:30 and my computer booted up, then it acted strange – there was no update, however, my VPN was turned off, the scan was taking 17 minutes instead of 4 minutes. So I had to do a hard shutdown as I had no files again. I’m trying to catch up here and won’t shut down until I’m ready to go to bed and hopefully it’s not a hardware issue.

      • Yes, it would. I am very slow if I try to even get an app for that phone for anything … hunt-and-peck with one finger and half the time I have to go back and delete it and my fingers aren’t big. I wish there was a wireless keyboard for the phone as I might use it more for things like confirmations, etc.

      • Can you use a stylus on any phone? The only time I can type a complete word is with auto-complete, or my e-mail address if I send a photo to myself.
