No Bake Jello & Cool Whip Pie

Do you remember when this recipe was all the rage back in the mid 1990’s? You can make it in about 15 minutes by using a store bought graham cracker crust, Cool Whip and whatever flavor Jello is your favorite, I used cherry but there is strawberry, lemon, raspberry etc. This pie is as easy as it gets and will disappear fast.

Pour the jello into a large bowl.

Pour in the boiling water and stir for 2 minutes until completely dissolved.

Mix cold water and ice cubes to make 1-1/4 cups.

Add the cold water and ice cubes to the jello.

Stir until slightly thickened.

Remove any ice that remains.

Add the cool whip.

Whisk until smooth and creamy then refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Spoon into the graham cracker crust, cover with the plastic lid and refrigerate for 4 hours or until firm.

Add whipping cream and serve. Refrigerate any leftovers.

My Mom made it often! Thank you for the memories.
You’re welcome Nancy!
What an interesting recipe! And it looks delicious 😋
Thank you Ribana!
Sweet nostalgia!
It sure is but did you ever notice it always tasted better when we were kids than adults? Lol
I don’t know if anyone in your family watches the obnoxiously funny cartoon Family Guy but your post reminded me of the recurring “Cool Whip” gag. 😆 Jokes aside, this looks refreshingly yum!
No that’s one show we never watched. Thank you Ab!
love the retro recipes
I will have another one from the early 70’s, a lemon Jello pudding cheesecake pie that I hope to post on Friday or Saturday.
looking forward to it
Isn’t this pretty!
Thank you Dorothy!
🎶🎶 Memories…🎶 😉
It sure is!
Diane, my mom and I subscribed to a ton of magazines and I am sure I saw it in “Good Housekeeping”, “Woman’s Day” and “Family Circle” and likely other women’s magazines we had. It always looked good, but I never looked at the ingredients and assumed you made it with instant pudding and pie filling, so I learned something tonight.
This recipe is regular Jello not pudding. I am going to make the lemon pudding recipe and share that soon too. They are so simple to make and you are probably right, these recipe were always in the magazines. I have a huge bag of recipes that I cut out of magazines.
I saw that it was regular Jello gelatin, not pudding, because I thought “I’ve never seen Jello pudding in cherry.” Simple is good. My mom had a clipping file too as well as her binder of tried-and-true recipes.
Never before has anything looked so beautiful that is so little effort!
Awe you are so kind. I will be posting a lemon pudding pie this week that seriously was the easiest dessert I have ever made! It took a couple minutes to mix and then refrigerate for an hour, that’s it! It’s made with lemon instant pudding mix and cream cheese. Maybe your preserved lemons would go with it?
Thanks Diane, I will look out for your recipe! We now try to use the preserved lemons as much as possible because they are so tasty.
I will hopefully see when the Meyer lemons are in season otherwise I will use whatever the store has. Thanks again, I can’t wait to try this.
