Easy Cheesy Taco Pies Recipe

Seasoned ground beef and cheese sticks wrapped up in dinner roll dough then baked in the oven and dunked in your favorite sauce. These turned out fabulous and I didn’t even have to make the dough. I bought frozen dinner roll dough, thawed it overnight in the refrigerator and it couldn’t have been any easier. You are going to love this one!

Delicious,,😊😊
Thank you!
In Mexico those would be called savory empanadas. In Mexico empanadas can be made with a sweet filling or a meat filling.
What kind of sweet filling do they use? That sounds like a great idea Randy.
Pumpkin – pineapple – cheese – but mostly pumpkin
Oh yes! Pumpkin would be perfect!
Look very tasty Diane
Thank you! 🥰
They look delicious. Very empanada-ish.
Thank you Bernadette, somebody else said the same thing.
ooh, I’m going to try these
Enjoy!
Diane, these look great! What kind of cheese sticks did you use? Normally, with tacos we use cheddar, but in your recipe the cheese stick was white. These look like good party food or as an appetizer.
I had mozzarella in the refrigerator already so I used them. You can use whatever you want Betty. I just finish some pepper jack cheese sticks and they will go into my next meal. Thank you Betty!
These are so cute! What a creative way to make and present tacos.
Thank you Ab! Dipping in the sauce is the best part. Lol
Nice! I think kids of all ages would like this one.
Yes and everyone loved dipping them in their favorite sauce too. Thank you Dorothy!
I’m with the empañada crowd. I had my first in Argentina at a restaurant that only served empañadas. I wished it were closer to our apartment. I would have eaten there at least once a week. Then a friend in Mexico who was originally from Argentina served them at a dinner. He had gotten the pastry already cut out in circles at Costco in Mexico. We tried making some and it was so easy as all we had to really make was the filling. Your version sounds good; I don’t think there is a right or wrong to making them.
Awe thank you Linda! How clever that Costco sold them already cut. I love my multiple plastic molds that make pierogis size up to empanada size. It makes them look store bought.
That sounds right up my alley. 🙂 I have never had “Hot Pockets” but they look like pictures I have seen of them.
They were so easy using the frozen dinner roll dough. You could take out a few frozen dough balls, thaw them and make them. You could even use the remaining taco meat for a taco salad. I’m always trying to feed you! 🤣
Yes you are! You inspire me Diane. When Mackenzie used to post about the pizza she made on the rotating pizza oven, I kept telling myself I had to have one of them. Of course, then I would eat the entire pizza in one sitting, although they never looked all that large.
I always wondered if that pizza oven was any good. I find it easy to use my cast iron pan in the oven so it wouldn’t be worth buying it for me. Besides, I have so many gadgets already. Lol
You are a “gadget girl” Diane. Well, it always looked good when Mackenzie made pizzas on it – the Presto one gets good reviews on Facebook.
I have lost her for some reason. I will have to check in on her blog.
She doesn’t post too often, although she just did a long post last week. Let me know if you need the link to her blog – she changed the blog name after they moved back to Ohio.
Yes please give me her link, I know it had Ohio in the name. Thank you!
Okay, I will put it in a separate comment for you Diane.

Thank you so much!
You’re welcome Diane – she has another post today – I’ve not read it yet though.
These look yummy! They look like empanadas.
Thank you Nancy, they basically are but made with frozen dinner roll dough but they tasted delicious.
I remember this recipe from you … and back then I thought it looked delicious! This time I’m saving your post, because I’m definitely going to make it!
I love how taco seasoning goes with ground beef. I thought they were as fun to make as they are to eat, enjoy!
Thank you for reblogging!
I think the kids would enjoy helping me make these, at least the older two. Yum.
It is so much fun when they want to help. Thank you Carla!
