With it being ice cream weather I thought I would reshare one of the most fun recipes I have posted. I have to admit I didn’t think it would work but trust me, it is just like the store bought stuff.

  1. I have been fighting inside deciding to make ice cream. My grandfather always made Huckleberry ice cream during huckleberry season here in Idaho, which is currently going on. Today started Huckleberry festivals throughout Idaho.

      • It depends on their color. Red huckleberries tend to be more tart, while darker purple, blue, and black berries are sweeter in flavor. They have a somewhat mild flavor, similar to that of a blueberry though huckleberries tend to being more tart. They are smaller as well about 1/4 inch diameter.

      • Huckleberries are not farmed they are wild and do take longer to pick as they are really small. It took my grandfather and I about 5 hours to get 1 bucket full – think about the size bucket 🪣 you played with as a child like a sand bucket. Lots of work. Have to take care as well, bears love to fourage for the berries.

      • Both great goods – 5 hours to harvest 1 bucket of huckleberries about 25-30 pounds and according to The Thrillest – A Day in the Life of a Maine Lobsterman – about 8-12 hours to bring you your lobster tail 🤓😋👍🏼🍻

    • I was surprised how easy this was the first time I made it. This is another one of those things people buy and don’t need to when you make it this easy and besides, who doesn’t like to make magic!
