You are seeing this right, I have a functioning sink!!!!! I love my new Moen faucet and 16 guage stainless steel deep sink. I especially love the sink being underneath the granite. We have run the dishwasher twice already, it is so quiet you barely know it’s running. (I still need to shine up the appliances)My range has been reconnected, the contractor and my husband moved the refrigerator out of the dining room and into the kitchen where it belongs. The water line is connected for ice and drinking water.
One thing about the refrigerator, it’s gigantic! 6” deeper than the normal size. What does this mean? Well the contractor needs to move the island 6” further away from the refrigerator and then level the island again, I swear, nothing bothers this man.
In addition to the kitchen remodel, we have replaced 7 of these dark, ugly and hollow doors with all new solid wood doors. I almost forgot to take a picture of these doors so some of the molding is already removed. We also replaced the flooring so it all is the samenow.
Our entire house has had dark molding and doors, but not anymore. He still has all of the baseboard molding to do, transition strips, chair rail and a huge window framenot to mention the kitchen.
Next week’s update should be huge! There is an awful lot for the contractor to do yet but he keeps moving forward.
After having a small one for so long we really appreciate it. We have had to put an extra refrigerator in our garage all these years but now I’m thinking about unplugging it!
I’m so excited every time I see you post an update of your new kitchen! I love your new appliances – that fridge!! And the light-coloured doors are lovely too – they immediately make a room brighter and lighter (something you will be very happy about when the cold and dark winter months arrive).
I see light at the end of the (renovation) tunnel Diane!
All the replacement cabinets came today and they bubble wrapped each cabinet to keep it nice! All seven pieces were perfect! Contractor said he is taking off his regular job Thursday and Friday and plans to have all the upper cabinets in by Friday! 🎉👏🥳 Now it’s getting real!

You are living an HGTV show! What dramatic changes! I can’t wait to see the next post. Love the new doors!
I can’t believe how the dark doors and molding made it really dark in the hall. It’s like a whole new place with all the white molding too. Thank you Carla!
It’s like night and day in there. All the replacement cabinets arrived in good shape Monday so hoping to get all the upper cabinets installed by Saturday.
Wow! I’m living the experience vicariously, Diane💜 You’ve made great choices and I’m salivating over that sink. Replacing those doors has to make that space feel large and inviting.
I like the sink – it’s big but I have to ask what the wires are around the sink … they remind me of the connector I bought where the garden hose is attached to the faucet to keep the hose from twisting around. With the sink being recessed below the granite, no splashing either. I like the new doors a lot … a light and airy feel to the house. I just have plain old hollow doors – nothing special that came with the house. This creates a whole new look. I’ll look forward to the next installment!
Thank you Linda! The wire on the faucet supports the hose that pulls out to make the sprayer really long and so it doesn’t kink. It’s not a wire but a spring like material.
I see – thank you for explaining that to me Diane – I was wondering. It is going to look beautiful, all the stainless steel, sink and granite countertop. Just a bit longer – hang in there!

Thank you for your encouragement Linda. Cabinets come tomorrow. 🤞🏻

That is great news Diane – hopefully they are in perfect condition!
Thank you Susan. I didn’t plan on replacing the doors and molding but the floor turned out so nice I figured we might as well finish off the living room and hall. We are so glad we did.
This is a helpful post! Our whole house has been needing remodeling for a few years and we are finally starting the process beginning with our kitchen. We are not sure how much everything will cost, do you think using a dumpster is necessary for a remodel or simply make trips to your local dump? Thanks!
Our pole barn is so full it is going to take 2 of the largest roll offs! Think this way, all of the old flooring and cabinets, all the cardboard from the new cabinets, any old molding, dry wall and on and on. We pretty much gutted our kitchen but we had a lot of trash from all the doors and replacing all the molding in the living room and hall too. I suggest you start with roll off. Our rental company is only for 2 weeks so we are waiting until everything is completed. They will dump it and bring it back though so we will see how it goes. Our roll off rental price is about $600.00.
Looking very promising Diane and I envy you that gorgeous fridge

It is a huge difference for sure! Thank you Betty!
It’s coming together beautifully, and may I say what a stunning difference those doors make!
Thank you! Our cabinets came Monday and they were perfect, moving on!

It looks so wonderful, Diane. The white doors and framing look great. Such a modern upgrade!
Thank you Ab! I have always wanted white trim and solid doors. It is so nice to modernize after living in the 70’s. Lol

Looking great! I have enjoyed reading about your experience both the bad and the good.
Thank you I have enjoyed sharing it too.
Oh wow! Your kitchen looks terrific and it’s not even done yet 😊 we had doors like that too and replaced them, quite similar to yours

The countertop and sink look gorgeous! Wait until you can properly cook in your new fabulous kitchen!
I can’t wait to see how the blog pictures turn out with this new lighting and to start making new recipes to post. Thank you so much Tierney!
