Did You Know – Airplane Food

Have you ever thought airplane food tasted worse than it does when you are on the ground? It may not be the fault of the airplane food.
Did you know that our taste changes when we fly because of the change in humidity and pressure? The altitude also changes your body chemistry and decreases your taste sensitivity.

Wow, that’s crazy! I didn’t know π€
Me either, I want to know how they figure this stuff out. Lol
Interesting π€ I didnβt know that. Thanks for sharing π€ππΌπ»
Youβre welcome Randy.
Shame, the poor airplane chefs! So, it’s not that they do a bad job, it’s just our taste buds that are confused π.
Hahaha Good one Corna!
Thank you!
Oh yes, and I think all the food on the plane tastes the same, no matter it is π
So true!
* no matter what it is π
I got that! Lol
Very interesting trivia. I did not think about that. π
Poor food company probably makes delicious food and then this happens. Lol
that explains a lot –
Or it gives the airlines an excuse for the food. Lol
that would be a brilliant move on their part )
That’s most interesting!
I thought so too Dorothy, thank you.
We are going on a trip this week to Germany and a few other places. I’ll let you know how the airplane food was from first hand experience.
That is fantastic JC!!!!!! Have a safe and fun time and do let me know about the food. I hope you take and post many pictures when you get back.
Interesting fact, Diane. I wonder if there is a logical reason for airport food being bad and expensive!
Probably the pain of no leg room so we canβt enjoy the food. Lol
Good thought!
I heard this before, it’s fascinating! Of course I’ve only been flying Southwest so it’s only those sad snacks they serve π
Maybe they will bring it back but then the ticket will go up by $50. π€£
Thanks for the enlightening!
Youβre welcome Mary!
That’s really interesting, you always have some great information to pass on to us !
Thank you Susan, I enjoy researching things food related.
Interesting factoid Diane – I didn’t know that!
I always thought it was just the food Linda, however, when Terry and I went to Alaska for our 25th anniversary we flew first class and I thought that food was good.
Maybe their catering service was better. I can’t say I ever had a problem with airline food … maybe we aren’t picky?
Do airlines even serve anything besides drinks anymore? It is an interesting idea though.
I read that they have brought food back but of course it depends on the airline and how long the flight is.
I didn’t know that, but I confess that I don’t find airplane food that bad,but surely tasting funny sometimes. Now I know whyπ€
I never thought it was that bad either. I figured since it sat in the warmers for so long that was why it was never as good as on the ground.
Interesting! π€
I thought so too Kris, but I never really thought it was that bad. Lol
Thank you!
