It’s Friday What’s For Dinner 02-24-23

Anyone that makes a homemade dinner is welcome to type the name of one recipe that you prepared in the comments, then we can all scroll through the comments for recipe ideas. This will be a weekly Friday post and only recipes on the Friday posts will be allowed.

If someone wants your recipe and asks there will be no pressure to share it, it’s up to you. I will accept links, but only to the recipe and NO VIDEO. It may take me a day to approve it so I can make sure the link is legitimate and not spam.

NO SPAM OR VIDEOS WILL BE ALLOWED, ONLY RECIPES OR YOU WILL BE BLOCKED.

I find the hardest part of making dinner isn’t the process, but figuring out what to make. So go ahead and post ONE RECIPE ONLY EACH FRIDAY in the comments or feel free to just read what others have made. Either way, I hope we all get some great ideas to make our meal planning easier.

My “It’s Friday What’s For Dinner” in the picture above is Hungarian Goulash which is made on the stovetop and came from a cookbook where all the recipes came from the back of food labels. I have made this one for years and it is delicious so enjoy.

  1. Lenten Friday, so no meat allowed for us. So tonight, pasta primavera…
Carrots, broccoli, maybe peas and onions all chopped
    3 mighty cloves of garlic
    EVOO
1 lb of good spaghetti, linguini or fettuccine
Brown the chopped garlic in the olive oil, careful not to burn it
Add all the veggies (I hate that word), cover and simmer
Boil the macaroni according to directions in salted water
When the macaroni is about half done, add some of the water to the vegetables, about 2 full cups. Uncover and let that cook down. That will make a sauce
Drain the macaroni and add to the vegetables.
Let that sit for a few minutes before serving.
Toss and plate with plenty of shredded parmesan cheese and a nice
    bottle of pinot grigio.

    • Thank you Linda this is one of Terry’s favorite meals. I love that your mom made such a variety of meals. My Dad’s mom made the same food every day each week. Ex: Meatloaf on Sunday, Roast on Tuesday etc. every week. When he married my mom he couldn’t believe what a good cook she was because she made more than seven things. 😂

      • Oh that is really funny Diane. My mom always said “if you can read a cookbook, you can cook.” That was when I asked if I could help in the kitchen. I do beg to differ with that. 🙂 I always remember when she had her various surgeries and I was in charge of meals. She watched me skinning cucumbers and trying to cut them and said “bring me a dinner plate and the cuke and knife over here to the table. I get sick watching you – there won’t be anything left of the cuke after you’re done with!” She was laughing and I was too, so it wasn’t mean, but it didn’t exactly build my confidence in the kitchen.
