It’s Friday What’s For Dinner 6-24-22

Anyone that makes a homemade dinner is welcome to type the name of one recipe prepared in the comments, then we can all scroll through the comments for recipe ideas. This will be a weekly Friday post and only recipes on the Friday posts will be allowed.

If someone wants your recipe and asks there will be no pressure to share it, it’s up to you. I will accept links, but only to the recipe, however it may take me a few days to approve it so I can make sure the link is legitimate and not spam. NO SPAM WILL BE ALLOWED, ONLY RECIPES OR YOU WILL BE BLOCKED.

I find the hardest part of making dinner isn’t the process, but figuring out what to make. So go ahead and post ONE RECIPE ONLY EACH FRIDAY in the comments or feel free to just read what others have made. Either way, I hope we all get some great ideas to make our meal planning easier.

I will not be commenting on your ”It’s Friday What’s For Dinner” recipe as this is your recipes to share with everyone.

  1. Really easy but it takes some time. A true Southern staple.
    Momma’s Beans n’ Greens…
    Bacon
    Chicken stock
    Collard greens, cleaned and chopped
2 cannellini beans, drained. You could use kidney beans too.

Chop the bacon, amounts vary but 6 pieces will do, and brown it well. Discard the grease.
Add chicken stock and heat to a simmer
Add the collards and cook them down. Wait until the are all covered with the stock. Cover and simmer for about an hour.
Add beans and cook for another thirty minutes or so.
Best served with buttermilk biscuits on the side.

  2. Oh yeah! Meat and potatoes. Can you say “Merica!” boys and girls?
One of my husband’s favorite meals is something we like to call “Cheese Dogs”. It’s also one of the few meals he can prepare by himself and he did so last night. Here’s the recipe:
Ingredients: hot dogs (how many depends on the number of mouths your feeding), canned pork & beans (small or large depending on the number of people), sliced and/or shredded cheddar cheese.
Heat over to 350º. Empty one can of beans into baking dish of your choice. Slice hot dogs lengthwise in half and place them over the beans. You can get creative and make a pinwheel design of just place them side by side. Cover the dogs with loads of cheese and bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is ooey gooey and starting to get brownish. You can serve these in hot dog buns or just on a plate with a side or potato salad or french fries. Chips will do. fine, too So easy peasy even my husband can do it! 🌭
