Baked Round Steak

When I was growing up money was tight and we didn’t usually have steak. However, my mom would make this delicious Fork Tender Baked Round Steak and I loved it. You won’t believe how delicious this is and it just falls apart.

I think my mom made a similar dish. My dad loved beef! Mom was more of the pork or poultry camp.

This was very popular back in the day. My dad was a hunter and we all fished so we all loved this one.

Isn’t it funny how moms can always come up with something. And yet, no other segment of our society has been more neglected or more maligned. Being a mom should be classed as an art!

I used to make something like that in early marriage, but we may need to bring that out again with high beef prices. It looks delicious!

Thank you Linda, even though it is a cheaper cut of meat it tastes top notch with this recipe.

The last time I had a steak was a long time ago. Maybe it’s time to remember how delicious it is. 🙂

I will have to try this. It looks so delicious and tender!
Like you, steak was a treat growing up as my mom a single income earner. We couldn’t afford the thick cuts and only the thin fast fry beef. My mom said I’d always lick the plate dry and she always bad.
So steak for sure is a treat for us as adults now for special occasions or when they’re on sale in the grocery. Whenever T says yuck after I offer him some, I’d always tell him if you only knew!
And yes, I love the marrow too. The hubby finds fatty stuff gross so no fighting over the marrow over here!

Thank you Ab, I think you will love it. I had to laugh about licking the plate! Enjoy the marrow there is never enough to share anyway. 🤣

Oh, that looks good – we never had steak either. My mom would make ground round patties with onions and mushrooms, but not a real steak – even going out to the restaurant, we did not opt for steak, just not used to it.

Thank you Linda, I still love it as much as I did when I was a child.

In this house, it’s still a fight over the marrow bone 😁. We make a similar dish – we just add some fried onions and sauces … I think the answer for that “fall of the fork”, is due to the 2 hours in the stove. It’s a great dish – we’ll have to make it soon again (with fluffy mash)!

Yummy. Growing up, we were lucky to eat decent food once a week.
