How many of you celebrate Labor Day every year and never really know why? Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday of September in the United States, and honors the American labor movement and the workers who have made our country strong and prosperous. It was created by the labor movement in the late nineteenth century, and became a federal holiday in 1894.

In honor of Labor Day, I have decided not to cook! I hope you are all going to enjoy a fabulous cookout with your close family and friends. Please stay safe and practice social distancing.

  1. Thanks Diane.
Hopefully, the reminder of why the day is celebrated will give people some pause to consider just what the Labor Movement & Unions have meant to workers. But, I doubt it, since many people support political candidates who seek to further exploit workers for the benefit of corporations and 1%.
Labor Day holiday is a last chance for summer BBQs and a day off.
Yet, workers around the globe continue to suffer from a multitude of exploitative tactics – STILL much to do!

  2. Hope it was a great Labor Day for you. It was a wee bit soggy with rain here but the sun came out around dinner time. Beautiful photo!
