Two Minute Microwave Elephant Ear
A crispy, buttery tortilla sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and microwaved for two minutes for a delicious and quick dessert or snack. This isn’t doughy like the ones fried in grease at the festivals but a crispy treat instead. These are made with a 6” tortilla. I have also made these using the large tortilla and baked them in the oven. Click HERE to see the recipe for the oven version.
Ingredients
Lay a 6” tortilla flat on a
microwave safe plate.
Brush the top with melted butter.
Sprinkle with a cinnamon sugar mixture.
I use 1 tsp. cinnamon to 1 Tbsp.
granulated sugar.
Microwave on high for 2 minutes,
depending on the power of your
microwave. Place on a clean plate.
Break into bitesize pieces and enjoy!

Reminds me of a short-cut version(Canadian style)—-BEAVER TAIL
Wow I have never heard of Beaver Tail. I had to Google it to see what it was. Sounds delicious!
It really tastes great. It is called Beaver Tail because the dough was shaped into that of a beaver’s tail. The beaver symbolizes Canada and not the moose.
Well you had me at Elephant Ear ! lol I was intrigued and this looks like a great and quick to make treat!
I am so glad they turned out so good. I love cinnamon and I put plenty on mine…lol Thank you!!
I was a bit worried when I saw the title… looks lovely, yum!
No elephants were harmed in the making of this recipe! 😂🤣😂
I would have been good NOT to know this! 😂 And the apple enchiladas! BUT my boys will be thrilled!
Hahahaha enjoy they are both very good. I am so glad your boys will like them. ❤
Oh they did! The problem is, I bought tortillas for carnitas. Two days later I went to make them and they were gone as was much of my cinnamon. 😆
Hahahahaha that is hilarious!!!!! You made my day!❤
Great idea!
Thank you Beth!
We’re having tortillas tomorrow. We always have a two or three left over so we might try this for dessert. Great idea.
Great dessert!!!!!
Yum
Thank you!!!
Thank you!!!
This is absolutely brilliant!! 💗💗💗
Thank you Lisa I was so happy they turned out!!!! My grandkids and I loved them.
Yummy looking – I love elephant ears but haven’t had them in years, but the crunchy/crispiness of yours appeals to me more than the doughy and often greasy type you get at fairs or carnivals.
Thank you Linda!!!
wow it looks delicious
It really was and my grandchildren devoured them!!! Thank you!
Loving this
It was a great sweet snack with way less calories than cake!!! Thanks!
This looks so good! And easy enough that my daughter could make some, too. We’ll have to try this tomorrow!
Oh yes very simple!!! Thanks Michelle!
It really looks like an elephant ear 😉
Doesn’t it!!!!
Wow that looks really, really good!
Thank you they tasted better than I ever thought they would!
The name of this recipe made me smile 😀. It more reminds me of an elephants‘s footprint, though.
How funny! I never thought of that! Have a great week!
Thank you. You, too. May it be one full of sunshine, laughter, and heartfelt moments ✨💫✨
You should’ve seen how fast I leaped off the couch to make this the other night. We had just had to throw out the casserole I made because it was SO SALTY and I had tried drinking orange juice and still couldn’t get rid of that salty aftertaste. The cinnamon sugar did the trick. Mom tried part of it and said “There’s not much flavor to it” but the woman had just been chewing mint gum so how could she taste anything??? LOL
I thought it was perfectly sugary & cinnamony. I do want to try your oven method next time thought to see the difference in texture.
So tasty though! Cinnamon things are my favorites.
I’m so glad you liked it. Tell your mom to adjust the cinnamon sugar to her taste. I also sprinkle a lot of the mixture on mine. Thank you for your nice comment!!! ❤
Thanks, Diane. My grandson, Logan, loves it.
Barbara
Awwww I’m so glad Barbara!
Well, I sense a new addiction about to start 🙂
Hahaha here too I just ate two of them! I did it a little different today. Instead of brushing the tortilla with butter, I put the butter on the plate, microwaved it and then put the tortilla on the plate and moved it around to get all buttery. Flipped it over and put the cinnamon and sugar on top. Saved me from washing the brush…. I hate doing dishes!
Ooh–good idea! Thanks for the tip 🙂
This is a great recipe for those cases when a craving hits. 2 minutes are totally manageable! 🙂
Exactly and so many less calories than cookies or cake! Thank you so much Tanja!!!
Oh my gosh I remember making these like this too!!
Dang I thought I created it…lol
It’s just so easy compared to making them from scratch. I was going to make them from scratch on new years eve but that didn’t happen. Hopefully I can do it sometime this week lol
You make yummy foods that are so exciting!💕
Thank you for such kind words!!!
Thanx Diane – can’t wait to try this with my grandson.
You are very welcome!
