Baked Okra
This Baked Okra recipe is so easy and it is the favorite Okra recipe that I make. I love this recipe because it is not fried and still tastes delicious. I also like this recipe with parmesan cheese added on top.

Oh yum!
Thank you I love this stuff!!!!
Yum! I love okra!! Never thought to bake it. I usually fry it. My family doesn’t like it bc they say it’s too slimy, or maybe it’s bc I’m from the south… 😂 . Maybe they’ll like it this way! Thanks for the idea!
I’m with them! I don’t like the slime either…lol When I bake it until it is light brown the slime is gone. I love Okra too!!!!!
I’ll have to try this recipe. I’ve never really acquired a taste for okra, although I love growing it for the beautiful tropical looking plants and blooms.
The flowers are beautiful! I remember the first time we planted okra. My husband saw the flowers first and made me go out and see them. What a surprise!
Okra? Never heard of this!
It is very good. It is in soups a lot of times. It has big white seeds inside each pod. If you ever get the chance give it a try.
Sounds tasty! My children always like okra fry !😊
They should like this too then. That’s amazing the kids like Okra, you feed them right!
I love okra, Diane. I have a question about this recipe. My sister won’t eat okra if it is at all “slimey.” Does the baking process get rid of the “slimey” texture of the okra? If not, I’ll just have to make it for myself, won’t I? LOL!
I’m with your sister…hate the slime! I cook it until it is a light brown and then it gets rid of the slime. If you cut each piece in half after you cut the ends off that will make it even more slime proof. Maybe you should make a practice batch for you first….lol
I’m going try this!!!!!!! Have a bag of okra that was given to me just sitting in the fridge waiting to be used…. I had no idea what I was going to do with it until I read this title!
What perfect timing! Enjoy!
Okra grew in my garden, but I couldn’t prepare it well. Thank you for the recipe, I’ll try to do it okrę.
greetings
The first time I made it I didn’t cook it long enough and it was slimy. I always cook it properly now…lol
Hmm. I have never tried baking okra before. I’ve only sautéed it. I will have to try this!
It was really, really good!
OK, Diane….love this. Try this easy fast fix too. Put fresh okra speared on plate, microwave for a two minutes with a touch of olive oil, salt and pepper. Makes you want to slap your Mama good!
I would love it but tell me the slime disappears?????? I will eat Okra any way as long as there is no slime.
That’s the best part! It doesn’t have slime!
OK I am going to try it!
I will have to try this recipe, Diane. I have only eaten okra boiled in gumbo, but I like the idea of seasoning and baking it, and possibly eating it as a snack. Does it get crunchy?
No not crunchy but I cook it until it is brown. That way all the slime is gone and you are left with a fabulous flavor.
Sounds good, Diane. Thank you!
Thank you!
Sounds good .In India it is know as Ladies Finger . Ocra is the European name. Ill try this as far better than the fried horrid version.
Fascinating name and they do resemble a finger! Definitely healthier than the breaded and fried way!
This sounds so good! I’ve actually never made okra just plain baked, always in something else like a jambalaya. Will have to try it like this!
It is SO GOOD! Sprinkle on some parmesan cheese too. Thanks so much!
Have to try this. I’ve only ever eaten fried Okra.
I really enjoy it this way. Plus the added benefit of no breading or grease.
I’m gonna try this today. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome I hope you like them.
I liked them cooked that way. I forgot to sprinkle the cheese though. Next time.
Great! It’s like entirely different recipe with the cheese. Thanks for telling me.
I’m sure it is. You’re welcome.
That looks delicious. I love okra! 🙂
Thank you Jan! It does taste amazing. I wish it wasn’t seasonal.
Diane, I make my okra the same way, too! Super delicious and no slime. Thanks, also, for joining my blog – a new venture for me.
Oh yes I can’t stand it if it has slime…lol You are doing an excellent job at your blog! I loved reading it.
From your garden Diane?
Of course…lol
Wow! Okra that isn’t fried, pickled or in a gumbo…I didn’t know such a thing existed! 🙂
I like the simplicity of this. Very nice!
I really love this and to get two different tastes, since our plants produce so many, I will add parmesan cheese one time and leave it off the next time. Thank you!
Love these baked okra! They look green & crispy.
Thank you!
We mostly call his Lady’s Fingers here in Singapore too. I only learned the word, okra, when I lived in New York. Did I miss a post on “Meals on Wheels”? Is that a different sister blog? Happy weekend, Diane!
Thank you Viv! No Meals on Wheels is somebody else’s blog, not mine. They are kind enough to post a lot of my recipes. Enjoy your weekend as well!
Yummmmmm I would love to try! Okra intimidates me but this looks great !!
Oh don’t let it intimidate you or you will miss out on an amazing taste. This baked version is about as easy as you get so give it a try, you won’t be sorry.
